SCENE SETTER BESTSIMPLE BACKGROUND/SYMMETRY - This photo of Amir right before the music comes on right before the first dance. This half-symmetrical/half-simple background is a great introduction into the event.
SCENE SETTER WORST REPETITION OF SHAPE - I was trying to go for a repetition of shape/symmetry shot as they left the stage during the opening dance, but from the seat I was given it just ended up a little awkward.
ACTION BESTRULE OF THIRDS/SIMPLE BACKGROUND - This is a photo taken just after Jay P stepped out of his Timberlands and left that metaphorical life in the past. His body is along the left third line and well frames the image.
ACTION WORSTRULE OF THIRDS/SIMPLE BACKGROUND - For some reason, I just really like this photo of Jayden Jarrett sitting on the stool atop the right third line. It's a photo of him rapping with the Tamborine in hand during his talent. But it is very dark and he can't be made out clearly.
REACTION BESTSIMPLE BACKGROUND - I don't know what the technical composition of this photo is, but I really like the excitement of these supporters of Keyshawn after he finished his talent showcase.
REACTION WORSTRULE OF THIRDS - I was super close to Landon as he was yelling for Amir which made it difficult to focus, but his body is on the left third line and forms a decent visual across the photo.
DETAIL BESTRULE OF THIRDS - In his talent, Amir talked about the way that roller skating played a consistent father figure in his life, and I lucked up that this photo of him trying to capture the skates and they were on the horizontal third lines.
DETAIL WORSTRULE OF THIRDS - I wanted to have the jeweled M on the intersection of the left and bottom third lines with the tie on the opposite intersection, but the photo turned out blurry and was awkwardly spaced.
CLOSER BESTLEADING LINES - The contestants formed a good leading line toward the curtain as they were waiting on the results of the talent showcase.
CLOSER WORST FRAMING - I thought there would be a bigger delineation between the stage and the crowd to capture the aftermath of the on-stage portrait, but it just ended up looking scattered and chaotic.
