FROM THE Principal’s Desk

Dear Bluejay Family,

We closed week two of school with the ribbon cutting for the new OneHeart building. The building includes the Fr. Louis Richard Multipurpose Facility and the Fr. Floyd Calais Youth House. What a great asset this beautiful new facility will be for both St. Cecilia and Sacred Heart Church as we strive to achieve our mission of forming missionary disciples and fostering academic excellence!

In the last two weeks we have held Back to School Nights for all families to have an opportunity to hear, first-hand, classroom procedures and expectations. In my intro video, I shared some important information about attendance for students. One sure way to derail student academic success is frequent absences. We want students who are ill to stay home to prevent the spread of diseases, but we need students who are well to be on time and present each and every school day. We ask your cooperation as partners in your child’s education in making every effort to achieve this goal.

Last, but not least, as we head into September, please join us in praying for rain and relief from this drought.

Loving God, source of all life and provider of all blessings, we come before you with hope, asking for the gift of rain. As dry days linger, we pray for the heavens to open and quench the earth's thirst. Grant strength to those who work the fields and care for your creation. May this rain be a sign of your presence and a call for us to be faithful stewards of our world. With hearts full of gratitude and anticipation, we offer this prayer, trusting in your providence.

Grace and Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

“You visit the earth and water it, make it abundantly fertile. God’s stream is filled with water; you supply their grain. Thus do you prepare it: you drench its plowed furrows, and level its ridges. With showers you keep it soft, blessing its young sprouts.”

Psalm 65:10-11

Dear Bluejay Family,

We are finally able to play sports here at St. Cecilia. Our volleyball teams take to the court this week. Our girls will be on the road to start the week against Opelousas Catholic and St. Michael. On Wednesday, we will have our first home game of the season against Opelousas Catholic. Please come out to support our Lady Bluejay Volleyball teams. Admission is $6 for adults and $1 for kids. We are hoping for a packed gym to cheer on our Bluejays that have been working hard since the middle of July.

Our athletic program is successful in no small part to our fantastic group of volunteer coaches. Please join me in thanking this outstanding group of Bluejay servant coaches that have sacrificed their time and talents for our kids.
