A Message from the Headteacher

So September has been and almost gone already and the run up to Halloween begins! This week has seen our sponsored read & then the sunshine drenched sponsored walk. Both events have been a pleasure thanks to the participation of so many people. The support for the reading was superb and the atmosphere in and around school was a delight. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. Seeing families in school is one of the true highlights of my job and means so much to the children and staff in school. A massive thank you to Miss Taylor and Mrs. Whitfield for arranging refreshments. Developing a love for reading is of enormous importance and events like the sponsored read where home and school can work together are priceless when striving for this crucial goal.

Support is the key word around our sponsored walk. Firstly, I must thank Dorothy Hyman Stadium for allowing us to use their first class facility free of charge. The visiting families were again superb and helped to create a boost for the participants. Again, thank you. I look forward to the proceeds pledged to such great causes. I will stress that participation was the key and it is safe to say everyone took part!

Please remember, we have Flu Sprays booked for next Wednesday - it would be great if you opt in/ out using the link below to speed up the day.

Please remember to complete the consent form using the above link.

Parking - our School Council have asked me to consider this. Of course, at all schools parking causes issues - especially where a car park is out of use. I will try to attend a PACT meeting to see what is possible after meeting PCSOs. I ask for consideration to all of our neighbours and thank you for your understanding.

Next week will of course be busy again. Year 5 visit the Space Museum on Monday and we also have Barnsley LA reviewing school's progress.

I wish everyone a terrific weekend. Rugby & Golf may take centre stage in some houses I believe! Thank you to everyone for your support, this week has again shown that exciting things happen at Birkwood!
