CCY CONNECT JULY 2023 EDITION

Written by Clay Parrett

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about legacy and impact and purpose. It is crucial for us to periodically reassess our priorities and time commitments, and ensure that they align with God's desires for our lives and our church. By doing so, we can refocus our energy, time, and resources on what truly matters—the people and the mission entrusted to us.

A few years back, we organized a meaningful event called "Be the Church" Sunday at Shedeck Elementary in Yukon, just before the start of the school year. This initiative involved various service projects both inside and outside the school premises. We adorned the teacher's lounge with love and care, and we embarked on a prayer walk throughout the school grounds. We repeated this initiative for two consecutive years, and it was met with tremendous enthusiasm by both our church members and the wider community. It is important that others see Christ's Church of Yukon as a beacon of Truth and Grace within our community.

Now, we have a fresh opportunity approaching on Sunday, August 13th, to once again illuminate our surroundings with the light of Christ beyond the confines of our church walls. Our monthly event, Christ's Closet, which typically takes place on the first Saturday of each month, will be rescheduled to Sunday August 13th. By doing so, we aim to unite as a church family and channel our efforts towards reaching out with the love of Jesus. On this special Sunday, our plan is to serve a meal, provide clothing, offer haircuts, and distribute backpacks filled with school supplies to those in need, just before the commencement of the school year. Christ's Closet will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on that day. Will you join us and lend a helping hand on this significant occasion? There will be various areas where you can sign up in advance to contribute your skills and time. Furthermore, we have decided to hold our worship service outside at 9 a.m. on that day (no Sunday classes will be held). Together, we will worship, dive into God's Word, partake in Communion, and extend an open invitation to our community to join us in this celebration.

Once again, we will provide opportunities for you and your family to sign up for specific roles on that day—and for families in need of childcare, we will make appropriate arrangements.

Let's impact our world for Christ together!

Dear Church Family,

It fills our hearts with gratitude and joy as we reflect on the incredible journey we have embarked upon over the past year. We launched our very first Parent's Day Out (PDO) program here at CCY with a humble beginning, welcoming six precious children into our care. Since then, our program has grown and flourished, and we are now blessed to nurture twenty children within our loving community.

Our vision for PDO extends far beyond mere numbers. While our program may be smaller compared to other Mother's Day Out programs, our focus remains on providing quality care and creating an environment of love and compassion. When families speak of CCY's Parent's Day Out, we want them to acknowledge our church as a place where each family is valued and cared for deeply. The relationships we build with the families we serve reflect our church's mission and commitment to loving God and loving people. It is important to recognize the significance of Parent's Day Out as a ministry. While it may sometimes seem akin to a business since parents pay for their children's enrollment, we understand that PDO is much more than a transaction. It is an opportunity to extend our church's ministry beyond the traditional walls. By offering support, prayers, and care for both the children and their families, we embody the love of God in a tangible and meaningful way. For some families, our PDO program may be their only interaction with a church community, making our impact even more vital.

Each family's experience with PDO is an opportunity for us to demonstrate the essence of our church family. Are we welcoming? Do we inspire curiosity and interest in attending our Sunday services? For some, bringing their child to PDO may be their first step toward exploring a church home. Let us recognize the importance of this opportunity.

There are numerous ways in which you can support the ministry of Parent's Day Out. First and foremost, we need your prayers. We want to seek God's guidance and wisdom as we continue to fulfill His purpose through PDO. We also welcome volunteers to assist with PDO events or simply greet parents as they arrive. Additionally, supplies are always in demand, and we have an Amazon wish list for your convenience.

However, one of the most impactful ways to support this ministry is by spreading the word. Share our mission and achievements with your friends, families, and neighbors. Consider placing a stack of flyers at your workplace to let our community know we are here, ready and excited to serve them!

As we reflect on this incredible year, we cannot overlook the immeasurable gratitude we have for all those who have supported and tirelessly worked to launch and sustain PDO. To each and every one of you, we extend our deepest thanks for your unwavering support, fervent prayers, generous financial contributions, and dedication. We stand together, eagerly anticipating the year ahead, and eagerly await God's leading in this beautiful ministry!

GUATEMALA MISSIONS TRIP 2023

We are thrilled to share with you the incredible work our congregation members have accomplished during our recent mission trip to San Ramundo, Guatemala. From June 9th to June 16th, a team of 27 individuals from CCY embarked on a journey to support Morning Glory Christian Academy and spread the Word of God to the students and staff.

During our time in Guatemala, we completed several meaningful projects at the school, leaving a lasting impact on the students' educational experience. Our dedicated team worked tirelessly to improve the infrastructure, renovate classrooms, and enhance the overall learning environment for the students at Morning Glory Christian Academy. Through our collective efforts, we aimed to provide a safe and nurturing space where children can thrive academically and spiritually.

Furthermore, our mission team distributed 1,000 Bibles to both students and staff members, enabling them to deepen their faith and engage with the Scriptures. This act of sharing God's Word was a significant milestone in our mission trip, as it allowed us to spread the message of hope and salvation to the local community. We hope that these Bibles will continue to inspire and guide the students and staff on their spiritual journeys.

The experience in San Ramundo was truly transformative for everyone involved. Our congregation members had the opportunity to witness the resilience, joy, and faith of the Guatemalan people, and we were all deeply moved by their warmth and hospitality. We also had the chance to build meaningful connections with the students, staff, and community members, fostering a spirit of unity and love that transcends borders.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported this mission both financially and through prayers. Your generosity and encouragement enabled us to make a tangible difference in the lives of these students and contributed to the spiritual growth of the entire community. We also extend our gratitude to Morning Glory Christian Academy for welcoming us with open arms and allowing us to partner with them in their mission to provide quality education and spiritual guidance.

Let us never forget the power of unity and the profound impact we can make when we come together in service of others.
