Project information

Veterans HQ works to provide a unique holistic support service and engagement programme for ex-armed forces personnel, reservists and their families across the Liverpool City Region and surrounding areas.

Recently they applied to One Vision Housing's Community Development Fund to launch a Kickstart 2 Health programme. This initiative was created to support individuals who are struggling with isolation, loneliness, depression, anxiety, stress or some form of PTSD.

Kickstart 2 Health is a targeted health and wellbeing programme for veterans featuring a variety of activities including ‘Walk & Talk’ events with qualified counsellors and trained buddies.

In order to help further support the programme, The Sovini Group's Stakeholder Engagement Team worked with internal and external partners to help provide additional support. This included a microwave and cooker donation from Service Electrical Distributors LTD, carpet tiles from Bogan's Carpets, and decorating supplies/paint from Sovini Trade Supplies.

Outcomes

A total of 125 veterans were supported as part of this initiative, generating £214,583 in social value according to the HACT Social Value Calculator.

Members of the programme have benefitted from a reduction in loneliness and isolation, increased confidence and self-esteem, improved mental health and wellbeing, and an increased skill and knowledge base for individuals to be able to access emotional support and practical assistance.
