Monday: Eco Day - wear something green
Monday will be a non-uniform day and the children are invited to wear something green. All classes have a mini project to complete linked to our upcoming Platinum Green Flag renewal (next month). Representatives from Eco Committee will be undertaking a School Grounds Climate Survey on Monday morning with Learning Through Landscapes who are an outdoor learning charity. We applied for a grant last term and have been successful. The survey is part of the grant. We will also be receiving equipment and training for early years children to begin woodworking which is something Mrs Reeve has been keen to introduce.
Monday: Deadline for Year 6 T shirt / Hoodie orders - we need the sizes for all the children and payment if you're ordering hoodies by Monday morning.
Tuesday: Deadline for orders for PTFA Fathers Day Shop
A reminder that the deadline for orders is Tuesday morning with items available on Wednesday (please see letter from the PTFA linked here).
Thursday & Friday Sports Days
Please ensure that the information linked here (sent in our last newsletter & all posted on our website under news) is shared with anyone attending Sports Days next week so that they know timings, where to wait, where to stand and how it runs. We're hoping the weather will be good to us but the same days the week after are in reserve if it's not. Please remember we need the field to be dry enough (so not greasy / slippery) as well as the rain to hold off, for Sports Days to go ahead. If there is rain forecast for later, we may decide to risk going ahead and drop a race or two if the rain comes in early. We will need to make a decision on the morning unless it is very obvious the day before that Sports Day cannot go ahead.
Lates Arrivals
We understand that once in a blue moon anyone can be late. We would also prefer children to be late rather than absent and understand that for a very few families of children with additional learning needs there may be greater challenges to arriving on time.
That said, on Tuesday morning this week we had 9 families arriving late. Some did not sign their children in, other just provided 'running late' a a reason.
This causes a great deal of disruption for our office staff who are having to repeatedly leave their desks to take children to class, leaving the phones and the gate unmanned.
As a result our EWO attended on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings to speak to parents of children arriving late.
We have changed our late arrivals slip. ALL children arriving late MUST be accompanied by an adult who signs them in and fills out the slip which now includes the dinner order to aid Mrs East.
Late arrivals are also detrimental to children: some are uncomfortable as they enter the class, learning is impacted by missing the input of lessons and the learning of others is disrupted by the need for staff to stop and support the child arriving late.
Woodfieldside Business Park, Parking & Pedestrians on the lane
You may have noticed that the fence has been repaired between the Business Park and the lane alongside the school. CCBC have contacted me with concerns that this fence has been vandalised on a number of occasions to create a route through to the lane and have asked me to share their concerns with parents.
The car park is busy, with many heavy-duty vehicles making deliveries throughout all hours of the day. There is no signage to suggest small children will be present, and their presence there which is highly inappropriate on mass causes a significant threat of serious injury.
They have requested that I communicate to parents that they should not park there in future. CCBC will be erecting signage, and any vehicles without the appropriate permission to park onsite may be subjected to fines and clamping at the owners’ expense. There is CCTV in operation, and any further vandalism will not be tolerated.
The lane is NOT a suitable place to park or drop off, or for children to walk up unaccompanied by an adult, at drop off / pick up times.
The lane is used by the garage and residents at the top of the lane as well as parents and taxis bringing children to our Trinity Fields Satellite Class and there is no pavement.
Pedestrian access at the top of the lane is there for those walking down from the direction of Sainsbury's or for those who have no option but to use the lane as a result of there being steps at the front of the school.
