October Blooms at Tryon Palace

Happy October! It’s FALL- the most glorious season of all (at least in my opinion)! We’ve got mums in the main Allee and the Latham Garden, there are perennials and pollinators galore AND most importantly- it’s almost PLANT SALE!!

We’ve done our best to grow a HUGE variety of perennials and we’ve got some great trees and shrubs from some of our favorite Eastern NC nurseries! The gardens will be open all weekend and the plants are flourishing with this break in the hot miserable from summer! Fall is a perfect time to plant- especially those big things that are water hogs all summer. For a more detailed look at what we’ll have at plant sale- check out our sneak peek list here!

DONT FORGET- FALL PLANT SALE IS OCTOBER 13 &14, 2023 FROM 9AM-5PM EACH DAY! THE GARDENS WILL ALSO BE OPEN FREE ALL WEEKEND.

If you’re looking for an outside hobby and way to give back to your community, consider joining us as a garden volunteer! We are looking for volunteers for pruning, planting, raking, mulching, watering, weeding. It’s a great way to learn some gardening tips and tricks, especially for our area! If that sounds like your cup of tea, please contact me at hadley.cheris@ncdcr.gov.

We hope to see you soon! Happy Gardening,

Hadley Merizalde Cheris, Tryon Palace Director of Facilities and Gardens
