A Message from the Headteacher

Please see the link above - Easy Fundraising can work for Birkwood!

Welcome to our last Newsletter of another term! We have plenty to report ahead of the Easter Break and lots of super news.

In Assembly on Monday, Miss Greenwood announced winners of our Garden Design Competition where children designed some fabulous signage for the raised beds in our beautiful garden. Well done to everyone, the work will lift the garden’s appearance even further! The prizes were well received!

We also hosted our Easter Activity Session for children & families with SEND. A huge thank you to Mr. Froggatt and the staff who made this possible. This is another example of ‘Birkwood is for Everyone’ and the children (and staff) had a superb afternoon!

Easter Activities

We're delighted with the success of our recent Nursery Stay & Play session! It was a joy to welcome so many of our Nursery children and their families. Thank you to everyone who joined us – it truly showcased the work and talents of the youngest stars that we have here at Birkwood.

We held another unforgettable afternoon at the Rocksteady Easter Concert! The hall was buzzing with excitement, and our incredible young musicians truly transformed into Rock Stars, treating us to a phenomenal display of talent and passion. Our families and staff formed an enthralled audience, cheering, clapping, and singing along, making an electric atmosphere. It was clear that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the show! A huge well done to all the children who participated – your dedication and enthusiasm were simply outstanding! And a massive thank you to our wonderful Rocksteady instructor Aaron for guiding and inspiring them. We're already looking forward to our next musical extravaganza!

This week, our dedicated Governing Body held their important Spring Term Meeting, reviewing our progress, strategic direction, and ensuring everything at Birkwood is running smoothly and effectively. Their commitment to our school is truly unwavering, and I wish to extend my sincere gratitude for their hard work and dedication. Thank you for everything you do for Birkwood!

From the Sports’ Pitch – Our Year 5/6 footballing stars were the winners in our game against Milefield at Birkwood. A 3-1 victory was secured after a great game – Coach Marshall & Mr. Walton are fast becoming our very own Brian Clough & Peter Taylor!

We travelled to Milefield for our Boccia Event today. Some superb action and a third place finish - A brilliant afternoon.

We had a brilliant Attendance Assembly this morning! It was an opportunity to celebrate the incredible efforts and commitment of all our pupils in coming to school every single day. A huge, well-deserved round of applause went out to our amazing children who achieved 100% attendance over two terms! We also announced our House Point Winners for the term. The competition has been fierce, with every house showing brilliant teamwork and effort, but there could only be one winner; A massive congratulations to Team Fire! 🔥 Your hard work, excellent behaviour, and consistent effort in earning our house points have paid off in the most delicious way! Team Fire will be enjoying a fabulous Fish & Chip Party and an extra break – sounds like the perfect celebration to me!
