The Blast City Manager Dennis' Weekly Update | February 11, 2026

Thanks to those that got out early last Thursday for the Meet the "New Directors Open House" from 8 - 9 AM at Mission Blue Center. The conference room was buzzing with conversation, where attendees were afforded the opportunity to chat at length with Julia and Maz, learn about their roles, and wish them well in their positions as Acting Community Development Director and Director of Public Works. That was exactly the goal of the event, and we appreciate everyone who took the time to attend and connect!

SFO Noise Impacts Expected Late March-September due to Runway Rehabilitation

At last Thursday’s City Council meeting, Councilmember O’Connell - Brisbane’s representative on the SFO Airport Community Roundtable - shared that San Francisco International Airport will be conducting a major runway repaving and rehabilitation project beginning in late March. The work is expected to require a six-month runway closure and may result in increased and unavoidable aircraft noise in Brisbane during that time.

SFO has provided simplified maps (see below), though actual flight patterns and impacts will not be fully known until construction begins.

Due to Brisbane’s topography, residents may hear more flights traveling toward the Midwest and East Coast. Depending on weather and operational conditions, some days may also bring noticeable jet engine noise, as well as potential construction-related sounds such as grinding on the runways.

The City will share updates and reminders through the March STAR, social media, and City signboards, including information on how to contact the SFO Noise Abatement Office if noise levels are especially significant. While the impacts may be disruptive, the work (which takes place every 15 years or so) is necessary and serves as a reminder of our proximity to a major international airport.

New Vendor Alert at the Brisbane Farmers' Market: Whisker & Tail Co.

Whisker & Tail Co. Founders Joaquin and Christine were desperate. Their 130 lbs. Leonberger, Benny, was itching uncontrollably and he feared Benny would even lose an ear due to all the scratching, which resulted in oozing and painful inflammation. Turns out, Benny was suffering from food allergies to ingredients found often in dog food - beef, chicken, salmon, even peas and carrots! So, Joaquin and Christine set out to make all his raw food themselves, and Whisker & Tail Co. was born...single-ingredient and hormone-free treats, all consciously sourced. And yes, they have treats for cats, too!

Benny, left, with his sibling, Lara, is thriving today thanks to the loving care of his owners. Be sure to visit his dad Joaquin at the market on Thursdays, 2-6 PM in the Park!
