What a half term we have had! I am thoroughly enjoying my time in Saltney Ferry, your children are a credit to you all! We have another busy half term to come before the end of the academic year. Interesting hair styles today in our 'Crazy Hair Day'! We are very grateful for your donations and this goes a long way to feeding our animals on the school farm. Diolch! Have a lovely half term holiday in the sunshine! L. Williams
Saltney Small Steps
We have had a busy week looking at Pete the Cat my four groovy buttons story. We have been using our mathematical skills to count the buttons and learning the colours in Welsh. We have been using our fine manipulative skills to use the tweezers to pick up Pom Pom’s in the messy play tray outside. What a fab week and great to see our little learners developing their skills!
What a fun last week in Dosbarth Alwen🎤 With the money raised from last terms cake sale we had a KPOP party with special guest Rumi🤩 To get us ready for the party, the children made some delicious pizzas🍕 We finished off our topic of friendships by creating friendship suncatchers to display in class. In PE, we finished our topic athletics off with a circuit of activities - bowling, throwing, jumping🏃♀️ Reception children engaged with an important lesson from the NSPCC discussing our safe adults and child rights! Bendigedig pawb, this has been my favourite term yet!
This week we have been preforming our speeches that we have been writing the last few weeks. We had great fun using the microphone 🎤. The Children had great confidence and they all listened to each other really well. In maths we started to look at telling the time and have used the little clocks to make different times. In Udeskole this week the children searched the school to find the different herbs and researched what we could make with them. We have also had great fun using are new stage and props. Have a lovely half term break everyone.
Dosbarth Tegid have had lots of fun this week exploring measurements in Maths, learning about centimetres (cm) and metres (m). They have also been busy writing persuasive letters to local businesses, developing their writing skills and confidence in sharing their ideas. In addition, the class enjoyed leaf printing and exploring length by measuring and ordering objects from shortest to longest. What a busy and exciting week of learning! I hope everyone has a wonderful half-term break, enjoys the sunshine, and stays safe. ☀️
Dosbarth Brenig have concluded their learning this half term reflecting on their skills needed as they become ready for the world of work. We've talked at length about which skills are most important, they decided on communication and teamwork. It's great to see them already DO so much more than that as we cooked, played, created, shared ideas and fulfilled responsibilities this half term. We've had open and honest conversations as a class and we are proud of what the class have achieved this term and year. Da iawn chi pawb. We're looking forward to working on our remaining financial skills, business planning for the summer fair and learning more about foreign currencies in our country focus after the holidays.
Dosbarth Gwynant have been very busy during our last week of the half term! We have worked through the 'getting on together' project lessons exploring themes such as stereotypes, opinions and what makes a good citizen. We have blown our teachers away as we have shown such great understanding and maturity when discussing these topics! In maths we have continued our work with money and have taken on the 'compare my supermarket' challenge, comparing costs on shopping lists and solving multi-step problems to compare. We are looking forward to applying these money skills to more entrepreneurial projects, including our pea growing business 🙂 We also worked hard throughout the half term to reach our shared target of 800 dojos, meaning we enjoyed a crazy hair day with a movie and cupcakes on Friday! Da iawn pawb! Overall, it has been another wonderful term in Gwynant and I hope you all have a lovely break and that the children return all rested and excited for our next topic... Hawaii!
"Fferm y ferry"
The farm and garden will be having a revamp over the holidays. Our Ferry Farmers muck in every play or lunch time to keep on top of things. All part of their responsibility! Da iawn.
Again thank you to everyone that contributes to our school farm. Seeing how much our families are embracing farming experiences is why we continue to develop what is on offer.
Earlier in the Autumn we met with Mr and Mrs Roberts from St Peter's Primary School in Rossett. Wrexham CBC gave consent for them to start a school farm! Fantastic to have supported another school with ideas, how we run our school farm, what worked, things we'd change. They are now the second registered school farm in North Wales. Looking forward to working with them on a few collaborative projects!
