Defensible Space - Simplified; a Tip brought to you by the Wildfire Preparedness Committee
Defensible space (DSpace) may sound like a strange term. It refers to an area around a home where it is safer for firefighters to stand and defend your home in a fire. DSpace also means that by making your home more resilient to wildfire, your home has a greater chance of survival even if there are no firefighters to defend it.
The mantra for defensible space is to keep your property lean, clean, and green. PG&E has created a video that delivers all the key points in just 7-minutes and shows you what to do to maintain 100 feet of defensible space around your home, and why.
