Personal Statement

• Mike Pettit is a metal sculptor residing in rural, west central Minnesota. He has been concentrating on public art the last few years. In 2025 his work was displayed in Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Sculpture Statement

• The negative space between the columns represents the Mississippi river, curving through norther Minnesota. The title is a high security password expression of Mississippi. Rendered in steel and negative space, the sculpture reflects the beauty of encounters that don’t require contact—parallel journeys that briefly align before diverging. It invites reflection on the poetry of shared moments and the balance between unity and individual freedom.
