Find your summer reading nook!

FSMS ELA and Library Department 2026

We ask parents and families to commit to have their students read 30 minutes a day during summer months. Research suggests that this simple commitment provides growth in vocabulary, fluency, background knowledge, and overall comprehension.

Just 30 minutes a day of reading exposes children to 13.7 million words over time, fostering a lifelong love for reading.

Falcons, read carefully through the guidelines for your specific grade level. Be prepared to share your reading when you get back for August 2026!

6th Guidelines:

All students are encouraged to read at least one(1) novel from below. We encourage all Falcons to read a minimum of thirty minutes per day of the summer!

AAC, along with one (1) novel from above, you will also read How to Read Literature Like a Professor FOR KIDS (Chapter 1). 6th grade teachers will use this as text to cross connect other chapters throughout the 2026-27 school year.
