- Kaneland’s journalism program continues its tradition of excellence! At the recent IHSA State Finals, Olivia Cotter led the way, capturing 1st place in the state for Copy Writing and 6th place in Review Writing. We are also proud to announce that Emma Weintraub was named to the All-State Journalism Team—marking the sixth consecutive year a Kaneland student has earned this prestigious honor. Congratulations also go to our other state qualifiers: Iyvanka Ewane-Ewang, Anna Gatz, Faith Maschman, Audrey Noring, and Ellie Olp. Each of these talented students finished in the top 20 in Illinois in their respective categories. Please join us in celebrating these outstanding achievements and our students' dedication to storytelling!

Top Things to Know (Repeated Reminders)
1. Congratulations to the Kaneland Journalism program, which had six students qualify for the State finals in eight different categories. The journalism program as a whole came in second place in its 12-team Sectional, which includes five of the top ten journalism programs in Illinois. Olivia Cotter, Iyvanka Ewane-Ewang, Anna Gatz, Faith Maschman, Audrey Noring, and Ellie Olp qualified and will be heading to Bloomington to compete in the IHSA State finals on Friday, April 24. This success at Sectionals follows the Krier staff earning the prestigious Golden Eagle award for their print issues last Friday at the annual Northern Illinois Scholastic Press Association conference.

The next regular Kaneland Board of Education meeting takes place on Monday, May 11, at 7:00 p.m. at Kaneland Harter Middle School. Education & Human Relations Committees will meet at 6:00 p.m. prior to the board meeting. All of these meetings are open to the public.
