Otselic Valley second grade students in Mrs. Marston’s class recently explored the importance of clear instructions through a fun and memorable procedural writing lesson. Students were asked to write step-by-step directions explaining how to brush their teeth. The lesson became even more exciting when Mr. Gross visited the classroom to follow the directions exactly as written. With a few missing steps and some unclear instructions, students quickly discovered how important it is to be specific and detailed when writing procedures.
Mr. Gross helped bring the lesson to life by following student instructions exactly as written.
The activity brought plenty of laughter to the classroom while helping students build a stronger understanding of sequencing, clarity, and effective communication. Hands-on lessons like this make learning both meaningful and memorable. A special thank you to Mrs. Marston for designing this creative writing experience and to Mr. Gross for enthusiastically taking part in the lesson.
