Nach ca. 6 Stunden Flug von Zürich nach Dubai konnten wir für ca. 2 1/2 Stunden im Terminal 3 die Füsse vertreten und uns etwas auffrischen.
After a six-hour flight from Zurich to Dubai, we had about two and a half hours to stretch our legs and freshen up in Terminal 3.
Nach weitern 5 1/2 Stunden Flug Ankunft in Sansibar.
After another 5½ hours of flying, arrival in Zanzibar.

· Rote Colobus-Affen: Die Hauptattraktion, die nur auf Sansibar vorkommt und als stark gefährdet gilt. Sie sind sehr neugierig und nicht scheu, was tolle Fotomotive bietet. · Red colobus monkeys: The main attraction, found only on Zanzibar and considered critically endangered. They are very curious and not shy, which makes for great photo opportunities.

Freddie Mercury:
Geboren 1946 in Sansibar als Sohn indischer Eltern aus der Parsi-Gemeinschaft, besuchte Mercury ab dem achten Lebensjahr britische Internate in Indien und kehrte nach dem Schulabschluss nach Sansibar zurück. 1964 floh seine Familie vor der Sansibar-Revolution und zog nach Middlesex in England. Born in 1946 in Zanzibar to Indian parents from the Parsi community, Mercury attended British boarding schools in India from the age of eight and returned to Zanzibar after graduating. In 1964, his family fled the Zanzibar Revolution and moved to Middlesex, England.

NOTIZ / NOTE
Nachdem unser Rückflug von Sansibar nach Dubai wegen dem Krieg in der Golfregion ersatzlos gestrichen sowie auch der Anschlussflug von Dubai nach Zürich verschoben wurde mussten wir einen anderen Weg finden nachhause zu kommen. Eine Option, die zuerst positiv ausgesehen hat, war eine Verbindung mit Qatar Airways via Doha. Aber das liegt auch in der Krisenregion und wurde auch am Tag nach erfolgreicher Buchung gleich wieder storniert. Wir haben dann eine Lösung via Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Abeba gefunden. Leider waren die Economy Sitze bereits für mehrere Tage (ca. 1 Woche) ausgebucht und nur noch Plätze in der Business Class verfügbar. Wir haben uns dann entschieden lieber mehr für die Rückreise auszugeben und nachhause zu fliegen und nicht den Aufenthalt mit weiteren Zusatzkosten zu verlängern damit wir dann einen Economy Flug buchen können. Wir konnten schlussendlich an den gleichen Tagen reisen wie ursprünglich geplant war. D.h. wir sind am Donnerstag, 12.03.2026 von Sansibar nach Addis Abeba geflogen und in der Nacht auf Freitag, 13.03.2026 nach Zürich weitergeflogen. Ankunft pünktlich am Morgen um 07:40h in Zürich.
After our returflight from Zanzibar to Dubai was canceled without replacement due to the war in the Gulf region, and our connecting flight from Dubai to Zurich was postponed, we had to find another way to get home. One option that initially looked promising was a flight with Qatar Airways via Doha. But that route also passes through the crisis region and was canceled the very next day after we had successfully booked it. We then found a solution via Ethiopian Airlines through Addis Ababa. Unfortunately, economy seats were already fully booked for several days (about a week), and only business class seats were available. We decided it was better to spend more on the return trip and fly home rather than extend our stay with additional costs just so we could book an economy flight. We were ultimately able to travel on the same dates as originally planned. That is, we flew from Zanzibar to Addis Ababa on Thursday, March 12, 2026, and continued on to Zurich during the night of Thursday to Friday, March 13, 2026. We arrived on time in Zurich at 7:40 a.m.
