Hi! My name is Shelby Lawson. I graduated from Rutgers University- New Brunswick in May of 2025 with a degree in Journalism and Media Studies and am now pursuing my Master’s in Digital Marketing at Rutgers Business School. I currently serve as a Marketing Manager for Rutgers Recreation, where I oversee social media strategy, content creation, and promotional campaigns. In my previous role as a Marketing Assistant during undergrad, I led initiatives that boosted Instagram engagement by 8% and collaborated with departments across campus to increase visibility for Recreation programs. By combining my journalism background with advanced digital marketing training, I aim to design campaigns that connect with diverse audiences and drive innovative marketing initiatives in the digital space.

- Attend fitness classes and Recreation events to capture and create content.
- Create the monthly Rutgers Rec Staff Newsletter.
- Create the Rutgers Recreation Programs Newsletter.
- Interview students and staff for newsletter content.
- Reviewing resumes for the upcoming hiring.

Rutgers Recreation: Staff Newsletter
This monthly newsletter is designed to update all employees of Rutgers Recreation about upcoming events at Recreation and around campus, as well as give students important updates and shoutouts to employees deserving of recognition.
Rutgers Recreation: Social Media Content
I create reels and photo/video content for promotional use on Recreation's social media accounts. Using Buffer, I post promotional flyers onto platforms and Adobe Express and Canva to edit and create content for social media platforms.
Rutgers Recreation: Rec Blogs
Writing engaging blogs to get SEO engagement onto the Rutgers Recreation website and writing content that can be interesting and helpful about Recreation programs.

The Daily Targum is a student-written, student-managed, independent news organization at Rutgers University. I have been writing for the Inside Beat desk at The Daily Targum for over a year, focusing on college life, campus events, and current trends.
Her Campus
Her Campus is a college women's magazine; I joined the Chapter at Rutgers in 2023. Her Campus gives involved students a full range to explore and write about topics relevant to college-aged women. My writing focuses on advice, beauty, and wellness.
She Can Be Both Media
Over the summer, I had the opportunity to be hired as a journalism intern and write blogs for She Can Be Both Media, a women-owned and run website sharing the stories of inspirational women taking on multiple roles.
