The KISS To my atomic love

Dear Donald, Not a day goes by without me hearing something new about you. You take up so much space that I’m almost tempted to buy a mug with your face on it, just to see if the coffee actually tastes any "Greater". And since I had some New Year’s wishes to write to a few readers, you naturally came to mind. I went looking for one of your "pearls of wisdom" on the subject of Love. Apparently, it’s a word you use quite liberally.

I found this one, a real gem, following your meeting with Kim Jong-un:

“He wrote me beautiful letters... and we fell in love.”

A touching sentimental confession*, I must say. And yet, I’m finding the "living arrangements" a bit difficult to stomach.

In 2025, the scales finally tipped. Your great nation is no longer the sole frontrunner; China has pulled ahead, and my dream of Europe feels like a helpless incantation, caught between Vladimir and yourself. The world is flexing its muscles, international law is fading into the background, and algorithms are hijacking our stories. One no longer knows who to believe.

For 2026, instead of words, I’m countering the racket with the silence of the archives.

The Kiss, Berlin

This is an image from my private collection, captured in 2013 through a toy lens. I took it during a pilgrimage to Berlin, hoping to breathe in the ghost of an era I thought was long gone-before the walls started growing back inside our heads.

The bitter tide is rising, admittedly, but the memory of happiness remains stubbornly defiant. It is this fragment of resistance that I invite you to take home with you.
