PRINCIPAL Message
Deaar parents and carers,
What a great end to the half term! The academy has enjoyed special assemblies, school trips, workshops as well as general academy life. We were even a feature on ITV news! As one of the first schools to ‘count your carbon’ and to work closely with Eco - Schools on this matter . We were the chosen school!
Thank you to Hanli for not only allowing our year one children to come along to church as part of the RE syllabus but also for coming to us and sharing the message of Easter (Christian faith) in assembly and to Reception.
We also had a special assembly with the Health Team again. This time their focus was - Physical health . Mr Felton was delighted to hear that the children knew all the answers to the questions showing their knowledge of health and fitness.
Some children in Year 6 participated in a resilience workshop focusing on ways to build and use strategies to support their resilience. The session ended with positive affirmations.
We eventually saw the sun too and the field was open again for lunch time - green space to run and play ball games! The summer play zones are planned for next half term with our first assembly back sharing the news.
Today, we enjoyed opening the gates to celebrate together. Parents and carers joined children in the classroom to look at their workbooks. Children shared their work with pride, including their presentation best stars and their progress overall. Teachers chatted with families and it was a lovely end to the half term
A survey has been sent to families via MCAS to gather information about enrichment - activities and celebrations inside and outside of school . We would like as many families to complete this as possible. The survey is open now and until Wednesday 8th April.
We return to the academy on Monday, 13th April. I wish you all a wonderful Easter break and as always, enjoy your family time together. Mrs Nicholls

Sports and PE News
Yet another busy term of competitions and sporting events has seen many of our academy teams in action. Firstly, our Y3-4 Sports Hall Athletics team who after a morning of jumping, throwing and sprinting our team found themselves finishing in 7th out of 28 schools overall. Year 3 and 4 were also in action in a Tag Rugby competition. This was the first time we have entered this competition thanks to Mr Jobey taking it on and they did not disappoint! Throughout the day they grew in confidence and only narrowly missed out on getting to the final. The disappointment, and the fact that they had put all of their energy into the semi-final, meant that they ended up losing their last game finishing 4th overall. What an achievement, of which Mr Jobey was quick to point out to them which soon had them smiling again.
Next up were our Y1-2 Boys football team who having reached the finals in a previous competition, went to work at the task in hand. After a gruelling 9 games our boys finished in 3rd place overall and were very proud recipients of individual bronze medals.
Lastly, and by no means least were our Y1-2 Gymnastics squad. They visited Unique Gymnastics club to compete in the individual competition. They had to perform various moves on the floor, high bar, vault and beam and did so with confidence beyond their years. Mr Felton was blown away by their talent and determination to get each move correct. Every one of the squad scored enough points to secure a bronze award each, something they are not expected to do until they are in junior years. In fact one of them just missed out on a silver award! Well done to all the teams, you truly are amazing little human beings!
Go Darlinghurst!!
YEAR 1 TRIP
Year 1 had a lovely morning at Leigh Road Baptist Church. They learnt what happens in a church at Easter and took part in some Easter activities. They were great representatives of Darlinghurst, all the volunteers at the church commented on how well behaved and polite the children were.
year 2 trip
As part of their geography lesson this week, Year 2 visited Leigh Beach to learn more about the seaside and its features. During their trip, the children explored the shoreline, observing the sand, pebbles, and waves while discussing how beaches are formed. They also had the opportunity to spot different seaside elements such as shells, seaweed, and coastal wildlife, helping to bring their classroom learning to life. Although the weather was cold and blustery, the children showed great enthusiasm throughout the day. They enjoyed taking part in hands-on activities, working together to investigate their surroundings and share their discoveries with one another. The trip provided a valuable opportunity for the children to develop their understanding of coastal environments while building confidence, curiosity, and teamwork skills.
