This Week In Band

It's another busy week in band. Catch our Jazz Ensemble on Tuesday in the LFC Auditorium at 6:30pm. We will debut our contest show uniforms at our second away game at Prosper Rock Hill on Friday. Finally, we will compete in our first Marching contest this Saturday at the Wylie Marching Invitational. See bulletpoints below for more details.

• Eligibility: Based on the six-week eligibility pull, there may be changes in status of marching team members. Students that are ineligible will be unable to participate in extra-curricular activities such as football games, marching contests, and pep rallies beginning on Friday, September 29. All students are subject to another eligibility check on Friday, October 6th. Students that regain eligibility will be able to fully participate on Monday, October 23rd. • Jazz Concert (Tues, Sept 26): The jazz band will present their Fall Swing Concert on Tuesday, September 26 at 6:30pm in the LFC Auditorium.
• Away Game vs. Prosper Rock Hill (Fri, Sept 29): Check the ITINERARY for this Friday's game. Call Time is 4:40pm. Access our GAMEDAY CHECKLIST so you can be prepared for the busy day. We will be wearing our Contest Show Uniforms (regardless of marching team). Students will need to pack their Celestial contest show shirt, black shoes, long black socks, and black gloves on Thursday night and bring to school on Friday.
• Wylie Marching Invitational (Sat. Sept 30): We will compete in our first marching contest this Saturday at the Wylie Marching Invitational. We will have a late morning start with a short rehearsal at 11am, then spend the rest of the day at Wylie for a prelims performance (3:30pm) and possibly a finals performance in the evening. The band will plan on staying for prelims and finals regardless of prelims outcome. We will communicate our finals performance time when applicable through the Band app and Social Media. We want our family, friends, neighbors, and fans to pack the stands at Wylie High School as we perform our 2023 production, Celestial. All students are required to with the band for entire day. • Looking Ahead - Evening Rehearsal (Mon. Oct 2nd): We will have an evening rehearsal with our program coordinator and drill writer from 5:30pm-8pm on Monday, Oct 2nd.
• Looking Ahead - Required Fall Break Rehearsal/Game/Contest: As you know, we have required events on Friday, Oct 13 and Saturday, Oct 14. On Friday, we have a rehearsal from 10am-12pm and an away game @ McKinney with a 4:45pm Call Time. On Saturday, we will have our UIL Region 25 Marching Band Contest. REGION UIL ITINERARY
• Absences/Tardies: THERE IS NO EXCUSED ABSENCE REQUEST FORM IN 2023-24. The only way a student can receive an excused absence for a rehearsal or performance is through e-mail communication with the student’s band director from a parent. The reason must follow attendance regulations set forth in the AISD Student Handbook. You may lose your marching status/assignment based on absences/tardies of any kind (excused or unexcused).
