PLU women's lacrosse vs. Puget Sound

2026 Pacific Lutheran University Digital Game Program

Setting the Scene: The Pacific Lutheran University women's lacrosse team closes out its season opening homestand today, welcoming crosstown nemesis University of Puget Sound to East Field. Today's game will be a non-conference game with the second meeting of the season on April 8 counting towards the Northwest Conference standings.

Series History: The crosstown rivals met twice last season in PLU's inaugural season with the Loggers coming away with two close wins. The Loggers secured a 12-8 victory on March 8 at Baker Stadium before coming away with a 16-9 victory on East Field on April 11.

About the Lutes: Taylee Alldredge scored five goals, including a game clincher with 93 seconds left as the Pacific Lutheran University women's lacrosse squad tied a school record for goals in a 12-10 victory over Eastern Oregon University last Friday night under the lights at East Field. It was a high octane opening quarter with Alldredge needing just nine seconds to wrangle the opening draw and score for the Lutes (1-1). The visiting Mountaineers (0-4) tallied the next two before Alldredge tied the game at 2-2 with 10:31 left in the quarter. Issabella Marchio put PLU up 3-2 but Eastern Oregon struck twice in the final two minutes, owning a 4-3 lead after one quarter of action. It was all Lutes in the second quarter with Peyton Terhar opening the action with her first collegiate goal. Marchio scored twice in a three minute stretch before an Alldredge goal with five ticks left gave the host Lutes a 7-4 halftime edge.  Terhar tallied another score five minutes into the second half while Paige Hackman found Marchio to make it 9-4 just 10 seconds later.  Eastern Oregon surged back into the game, scoring three goals over the final 10 minutes of the third quarter and making it a one goal game with a goal with 12:37 left in the game. Alldredge made it a two goal buffer again with 9:42 remaining only to see the Mountaineers close the gap to one with 2:51 remaining. Alldredge came up clutch in the final minutes scoring with 1:33 remaining before Kathleen Swankowski tacked on an insurance goal with 25 ticks, tying a school record for goals in a game which was set in last year's season opening win that was also against Eastern Oregon.  Gracie Cecka anchored the defense with 10 ground balls and five caused turnovers while Hackman had nine ground balls. Kassie Diller secured the victory in goal, finishing with five saves in 60 minutes of work.

About the Loggers: Puget Sound (2-1) rolls across town riding a two-game win streak. The Loggers dropped the season opener 15-2 to Lewis & Clark College but has since picked up a pair of nail biting wins, toppling Southwestern University 11-9 and Eastern Oregon 14-13.
