Robinwood Residential

Y4 children had the experience of a lifetime last week when they visited Robinwood. This is always a great success but this year's group really excelled and were an amazing team. Activities were fun but challenging and everyone had a go at meeting the new challenges head-on! We are sure they came home more confident and with many stories to tell, as well as being exhausted and in need of a soak in the bath! Well done everyone, and thanks to our staff who gave up their own time to make the visit possible.

Year 4 Writing

We have been working hard on our writing in school and Robinwood inspired the Year 4s to write the most amazing newspaper reports about the visit. Here are some examples from our great writers:

Bonfire Bounce

Thanks to the PTFA committee and lots of helpers who organised and ran the sponsored bounce this year. Everyone had a great time bouncing as much as they could and we are sure that the event will have been a great fundraiser. Y4 were at Robinwood and so they have their turn coming up soon!

PE Kits and Earrings

In December, the hall will be timetabled for Christmas events and rehearsals which means that PE will be outside as much as possible. Please ensure that your child has an outdoor PE kit, including shoes, in school to keep them warm. If your child has pierced ears, please ensure that they have some micropore tape in school to cover them or practise removing them at home so that they can remove them independently. Due to the risk of infection, staff are not permitted to take children's earrings out or to help to put them back in.

Thank you for your support.

Medicines in School

If your child has prescribed medicine which they need in school, you can talk to the office staff about having it administered by school staff. As well as this, we do have some Calpol (liquid paracetamol) in school. This is for emergencies only, such as if a child has a very high temperature and is waiting to be picked up by a parent or carer. In non emergency situations, such as a child having a sore arm, we would require parents or carers to come into school to administer medication. There could be some exceptions to this but these would need to be agreed in advance. Thank you for your support.

The New Shed!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to assist Mr Lockey to build the new shed. We had a brilliant build team and the new shed is now ready for use!

SEMH Meeting for Parents and Carers

Next Thursday (20th November at 2pm), the Social, Emotional and Mental Health Team are providing an information session in school for parents and carers. This is a great opportunity to find out about the Zones of Regulations and how you can help your children with emotional regulation and well being. Lots of you have already booked places and we are looking forward to seeing you then. Please let us know if you no longer need the places as this will help us with our preparations. Thank you.

Remembrance at Havannah

Everyone at school learned about and talked about Remembrance this week and we all held one minute of silence on Tuesday. We are really proud of how thoughtful and reflective our children are.

Trim Trail

Please ensure that your children are not using the Trim trail (wooden climbing area) before and after school. This area is currently out of bounds as we are waiting for a solution to manage the bark chippings/ground cover and there are some exposed areas which could present a hazard. Thank you. We'd also be very grateful if you could prevent your children, including preschool children, from playing on the planted areas in the courtyard. The damage to these areas is now very noticeable and we do not have the budget to replace plants and repair damage. These areas are not for play but are designed to enhance the courtyard area and make it a special place for children to use during the school day.

Reception Join Achievers

This week, Reception classes joined our Achievers' Assembly for the first time. They celebrated their successes with Y1 and Y2 in the hall and some children have certificates to bring home. We also made sure that we caught up with their birthdays, even if they were earlier in the term, so that they haven't missed out on the very important birthday stickers! They were all extremely grown up and sat beautifully for their first assembly. We are so proud of all 90 of our Reception family! Now that the school is growing, Y3 and Y4 will have their Achievers' Assembly on Friday afternoon so that we can manage to give each achiever the time they deserve and we can all fit in the hall! We will still put pictures on Instagram for everyone to see.
