Animation Workshop
Year 6 had the exciting opportunity to take part in a 'Discovering Animation' masterclass led by professional animator David Bunting. He shared a wealth of experience and expertise, having trained with Disney and Aardman Animations. His work includes projects with Netflix and Cbeebies, creating storyboards for Shaun the Sheep, Bob the Builder and Chuggington amongst others.
The children created their own hero character for an animated TV series, learning basic character development techniques and filmmaking terminology. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn from an industry expert.
Year 3 Railway Museum Trip
Year 3 had a fantastic trip to the National Railway Museum in York. Below are a selection of photos of just some of the activities and interactive exhibits.

When is ill too ill for school?
Not every illness requires children to be absent from school and it can be tricky for parents to decide whether to keep their child off school when they’re unwell. It can be equally tricky for school staff to decide when to send a child home.
There are government guidelines which school follow about health protection and managing specific infectious diseases which can be found on the UK Health Security website along with advice and guidance for parents.
Members of the Attendance Action Alliance have worked with the Department for Education to develop this short guide which helps parents understand how they can work with their school and local authority to support their children to attend school and get the right support. Click here to view:
Preloved events - free uniform, clothing and more!
We are pleased to let you know that we will be holding our preloved event for this term next week, on Friday 29th November. Come along to the West Studio at 3.30pm to browse all of the uniform, PE kit, coats, other clothing, toys and books that have kindly been donated. All items are free!
We will also be having a preloved stall at the Christmas fair on Tuesday 3rd December.
Spotlight on Attendance 🔦
See below for attendance over the last two weeks. Last week the overall school attendance picked up and was back over 95% - let's keep going!
Please remember that absence from school not only equates to lost learning but also missing out on other benefits to a child's wellbeing and wider development.
Please also be aware that a period of five unauthorised days out of school will incur a penalty notice. Please take note of the changes to penalty notices and our updated attendance policy. This information is also available on the Absence & Attendance page on our website.
The Department of Education has advice on improving attendance - click here to view.
School Attendance is ‘everyone’s business’.
What an absence means for your child?
At primary school level, where pupils missing up to 14 days of school in key stage two are a quarter less likely to achieve level five or above in reading, writing or maths tests than those with no absence.
If you have any concerns regarding attendance please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Greenley, our Safeguarding and Attendance officer here at Parkside Primary School.
Safeguarding and Wellbeing - Help available from school
If you have any concerns about the safety and wellbeing of a child who attends Parkside Primary or require any additional support or advice with regards to attendance please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Greenley, our Safeguarding & Attendance Officer. If you have any question or worries about your child’s behaviour or require any additional family support then please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Daine, our Behaviour & Family Support Worker. Both members of staff are also available for children to talk to should they have any worries.
If you have any Safeguarding concerns outside of school hours, or are concerned a child has suffered or is likely to suffer significant harm and is at immediate risk call the Children’s Safeguarding Hub on (01482) 395500 or ring 999 (asking for the Police).
