Please follow this guide to learn how the division of Campus Services supports faculty and staff. Whether you need to send the bookstore your course materials for the semester, receive construction alerts, report a facilities issue, or plan an event—we're here to help.
Table of Contents
Tulane Bookstore
Located on the first floor of the Lavin-Bernick Center, the Tulane bookstore provides textbooks and supplies for academic courses, along with reference and general interest books. The bookstore also offers health and beauty products, convenience store items, home and office necessities,Tulane spirit merchandise, and apparel. Faculty and staff receive a 10% discount when shopping at the bookstore.
Faculty: Book Orders
Book orders pertain to the books and materials faculty order from the bookstore so that students have course materials ready by the first day of classes. Book adoptions are the materials used in a course during the semester. Book adoptions, or book orders, include the physical books and digital materials in the reading list on your syllabus. This means that textbooks, as well as digital books, courseware, and self-published course packs need to be added as course materials when submitting your book adoptions/orders in the AIP portal.
NTC Undergrad Bundle
The Tulane bookstore's NTC Undergrad Bundle is a course material ordering model that reduces the rental cost of materials for Newcomb-Tulane College undergraduate students. The NTC Undergrad Bundle provides materials for courses by the first day of classes at a flat fee of $350 for full time students (12+ credits) and $188 for part time students (6-11 credits).
The advantage of the NTC Undergrad Bundle for faculty is simple: It allows faculty to expand their curriculum by using as many textbooks as needed without any additional cost to the student. Full-time NTC students who use the program will pay $350 for 12 credit hours or more, regardless of the amount or type of textbooks selected by faculty. For years, Tulane faculty have helped students manage the high cost of textbooks by limiting the number of books for a course or by using other materials. Now they no longer need to limit materials due to costs, thanks to the NTC Undergrad Bundle.

Mail Services
Mail Services provides mailing and shipping services to all faculty and staff working in departments at Tulane University. Each department is assigned a unique 4-digit mail code to identify their mail and packages. Mail Services provides interdepartmental mail exchange, pickup, and delivery.
Mail Services is here to help faculty and staff with their mailing and shipping needs. We can mail and ship items for your department or research group both domestically and internationally, from a single letter to a bulk shipment of packages. To qualify for our services the letters or packages being sent must be part of your organization's function. All mail is sent through the United States Postal Service and packages through the USPS or FedEx. We are unable to provide postage for personal packages or letters but can take prepaid items to go out for delivery.
- Letter Mail: Please separate any international pieces from the domestic pieces so we are able to process them efficiently.
- Packages: For bulk shipments of more than 15 packages please use our template. Also, please make certain all addresses are neatly printed or typed on the package you are sending. Be sure to follow all instructions for domestic packages.
- International: All international packages require extra information to ship. Please fill out our customs form.
If you have any questions on specific services you may require, like certified mail or dry ice shipments, please email mailbox@tulane.edu.
Mail Codes Directory
Mail Services issues internal mail codes to all university departments, sections and business units. Mail codes will correlate with a delivery location making sorting, routing and delivery of mail simpler, especially for departments that have multiple locations. The following list contains the latest mail codes for Tulane University departments.
Amazon Lockers
Faculty and staff can ship packages directly to the Amazon lockers on campus. These items will be available for up to three days in the lockers serviced by Amazon. When using the Amazon ordering portal, do not input the locker address. Instead, please choose one of the Amazon locker locations at checkout:
- DIBOLL: Located on the south side of Diboll Parking Complex, facing the Aron Residence building.

FedEx Office
The Tulane community has full access to the FedEx Office network of services, including an on-site FedEx Office center in the Lavin-Bernick Center. Tulane students, faculty, and staff can use their Splash Card for copy, print, and shipping services.
Parking Services
Parking Services recognizes that parking is important to Tulane's living, learning, teaching and research communities and everyday are finding ways to enhance our services and create better experiences for you. Garages, surface lots, and private university streets provide parking opportunities on the downtown and uptown campuses. Please be sure to review the rules and regulations pertaining to your permit location.
Uptown Parking and Permits
There are many parking options available for faculty, staff, students, and visitors on the uptown campus. In addition to year-long permits, we also offer daily permits and hourly parking which can be done online or through the ParkMobile app. All permits are digital and require use of your license plate number. Please be sure that your license plate faces the driving lane when you park.
Downtown Parking and Contracts
Parking garages scattered throughout our downtown campus provide parking options for faculty, staff, students and visitors. Tulane faculty, staff, students, and affiliates working on the downtown campus are eligible to purchase a monthly parking contract. Garages are assigned based on office location.
Uptown Accessible Parking Options
Faculty, staff, students, vendors, and visitors with a valid Tulane parking permit and a state-issued ADA license plate or placard may park in an ADA parking space or a legal space close to their campus building. Permits are not valid in reserved spaces or hourly spaces.
Medical need permits may be issued for a short-term disability which limits or impairs an individual's ability to walk. Parking Services has partnered with Goldman Center for Student Accessibility and Campus Accessibility to support faculty, staff, and students with a medical need to park close to campus buildings (rather than just areas their parking permit is valid) when they do not have a state-issued ADA license plate or placard. Please contact Goldman Center for Student Accessibility and Campus Accessibility if you are requesting a Medical Need permit. These permits do not allow parking in ADA, reserved, or hourly parking spaces. Those who do not already have an annual parking permit must pay for daily parking, $5 per day.
Downtown Accessible Parking Options
On the downtown campus, the Tulane-owned garages do not have visitor parking that is accessible to everyone. A department must request visitor parking for the Murphy and Tidewater Garages for those with a medical or accessibility need.
Parking Services can be accessed at both of the Campus Service office locations:
- Uptown: Lavin-Bernick Center, Suite 107
- Downtown: Tidewater Building, Suite 803
Please be sure to check our website for alerts.

Sustainability
The Office of Sustainability collaborates with students, staff, faculty, and community partners to reduce the university’s environmental impact and promote cultures of sustainability. Please read the following resources on recycling and waste reduction on campus, and to find more information about Tulane's climate commitment.
Climate Commitment
In 2008, Tulane joined the Presidents’ Climate Leadership Commitments. The pledge includes measuring the university’s impact on climate change and developing a climate action plan to address these impacts. Participating universities publish their Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory data each year. Following the commitment, the University adopted its Climate Action Plan in 2015. The plan presents an analysis of the costs and savings of measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It consists of short, medium and long term strategies to reach an ultimate goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
Recycling & Waste Reduction
Even more than recycling, waste reduction is the most effective way to reduce the environmental impacts of our material consumption. With the help of the Tulane Undergraduate Assembly, campus partners, and student volunteers, the Office of Sustainability has been working to reduce Tulane’s waste and to encourage use of reusable items as a top priority in waste management. For more information on Tulane’s waste reduction programs, ways to reduce your personal waste, and info on how to get involved, visit our Lighten Your Load: Reduce and Reuse page.
Tulane’s uptown and downtown campuses collect plastic bottles, metal and aluminum cans, paper, paperboard, and cardboard for recycling. Procedures for collection vary slightly between the two campuses. For more information on individual procedures, contact the Office of Sustainability at recycle@tulane.edu.
Recycling at Tulane
Paper, plastic bottles (#1 & #2), aluminum cans, and cardboard can all be recycled at Tulane’s uptown and downtown campuses. Styrofoam and plastic bags cannot be recycled on campus.
Downtown Recycling
Single stream recycling is available in the Health Sciences Center buildings (exception 1555 Poydras, where Custodial Services are not provided by Tulane University.) All paper, plastic bottles, metal and aluminum cans, and paperboard (i.e. cereal boxes) can be placed together in recycling bins. No glass, please! Individuals must bring their recyclables to the larger bins in shared and public spaces, such as classrooms, copy rooms, and break rooms. There is no desk side service provided. Cardboard boxes should be emptied of packing materials, flattened, and set in hallways for pickup.
Uptown Recycling
On uptown campus, paper and cardboard are collected separately from plastic bottles & aluminum cans. Offices have paper recycling bins that can be used to recycle all paper, including white paper, color paper, envelopes, folders, telephone books, newspapers and magazines. No books or food containers. Cardboard boxes should be emptied of packing materials, flattened, and set next to your garbage can for pickup. Bottle & can collection containers are located on the outside grounds, in eating areas and in some public spaces inside buildings. You can place plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and metal cans in these bins. No glass, please!
Computer & E-waste Recycling
Tulane University recycles departmental computers, electronics and printer toner and cartridges. Computers and electronics are recycled through the Property Management Office. The computers are logged out and are first made available to other Tulane offices. Computers that cannot be reused on campus are recycled by the Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council, a Baton Rouge non-profit that distributes many to schools. If you have sensitive financial or medical data or student records on your computer, please contact the Tulane Help Desk at 504-862-8888 to schedule someone to remove the information from the computer before it is recycled. Electronics are a regulated waste and cannot be placed in the trash.
How to Practice Sustainability Every Day
We can all do our part to practice sustainability every day in small ways that have big impact. Here are some tips for living sustainably at Tulane.
- Only flush toilet paper when using campus bathrooms. All wipes (even those labeled as "flushable"), tampons, and paper towels clog pipes. Please help keep our campus facilities sustainable and in working order by only flushing toilet paper.
- Carry a reusable water bottle with you, which you can refill at water refill stations across the uptown campus. Locations are labeled on the interactive uptown map.
- Use a reusable coffee tumbler to avoid disposable plastics.
- Keep a set of quality reusable silverware in your bag or purse and use this instead of disposable utensils.
- Bring a small hand towel to reduce use of disposable paper towels.
- Save electricity by turning lights off when you leave the room or use natural daylight.
- Plug personal electronic devices into a surge protector and turn it off when you leave your room.
- Do not cover any air vents in your room with decorations or furniture. Blocking the air flow prevents effective and efficient operation of the ventilation system.
- Use LED lightbulbs on all personal lamps.
- Purchase Energy Star labeled electronics and appliances.
Green Labs
Green Labs is a new program focused on the university commitment to a 30% emission reduction by 2025 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Research laboratories are known to be one the most resource-intensive spaces of any industry: on average using 10 times the amount of energy compared to office spaces.
Be sure to visit the Office of Sustainability website for news and updates.
Technology Connection
Located in the Lavin-Bernick Center (LBC) in Suite 104, Technology Connection is a university-owned store that assists the Tulane community with personal and institutional hardware, software, and accessory purchases.
Faculty and staff can visit Technology Connection to purchase equipment, ask questions, and test products from Apple®, Microsoft, and other popular brands.
Technology Connection is an authorized service provider for Apple®, Microsoft and Dell, providing warranty and out-of-warranty repairs using original equipment manufacturer parts.
Technology Connection also offers exclusive bundles and promotions.
Student Resources
Technology Connection’s repair loaner program is often included at no additional cost when students purchase an Apple® computer through the campus computer store during our back-to-school specials. This program allows students who have purchased a MacBook® from Technology Connection, and have brought it to our store for repair, to use a loaner MacBook while their computer is being repaired in-house. Students who have an Apple laptop but did not purchase with the campus store have the option to enroll in the store's repair loaner program for a fee.

University Architect
The Office of the University Architect serves as Tulane University’s aesthetic sensibility that guides campus development. The architect's office is responsible for leading planning efforts to create holistic campus environments which support living, learning, teaching, and research. This is achieved by guiding campus design, master planning, space planning, and facilities data management.
The University Architect plans the scope and visual implementation of any new structure, garden, pathway, or amenity placed in the Tulane campus context.
Tulane Tree Policy
Please become familiar with the campus tree policy, which is intended to ensure adequate, impartial and expert consideration of major campus trees at the most appropriate stage of project planning. Please be sure to read it if you are planning a project.
Green Building Design Guidelines
Over the past ten years Tulane University has enacted a set of practices for environmentally responsible design and construction. Early efforts have been followed by more specific and consistent university practices and project requirements. In 2008, the university established a LEED Silver standard as a minimum for its major building projects.
Consultation Selection
The process of selecting a design team is a critical component of any project process and, just as an architectural design is a response to the surrounding context, the selection process is typically tailored to the context of the proposed project.
The selection process typically includes a qualifications submittal and one of the following four methods for the design team selection:
- Direct team selection
- Team selection with interview
- Team selection with interview and preliminary concepts
- Design competition
The University Architect orchestrates the architect selection process in collaboration with the Vice President for Campus Services and the Senior Associate Vice President for Capital Projects. Participants on the selection committee may also include University leadership (President /Provost), Board of Trustees members, donors, faculty, and individual school representatives.
University Planning Office
The Office of University Planning supports and implements the university's strategic and master plans in alignment with goals for institutional development through the physical environment and building resources of the university. Please be sure to reach out to the University Planning Office if you need to make a map or if you want to make changes to community spaces.
