Our FREE grab-and-go breakfast will begin this Monday, September 11th, from 7:09 a.m. to 7:24 a.m. Students wishing breakfast will be directed to the cafeteria as they enter the building. Students will take their selection and then immediately go to their homeroom. Students must scan their IDs but will not be charged for the breakfast items.

Student Technology Leader Program
Do you like working with laptops and helping teachers and students? Do you like programming, robots, and learning new technology tools. Join the Technology Leader Program for students in 6th and 7th grade.
The program is designed to provide technical training to students and prepare them to provide training at Northampton Area Middle School.
When: There are 5 training dates that take place during the school day.

The Middle School will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair on Monday, September 11th through the evening of Thursday, September 14th’s Back to School Night. Students will visit the Book Fair during one of their ELA classes during Fair Week and will have the opportunity to make purchases at that time. Purchases may also be made online and on Back to School Night.
8th Grade Students
Save the date - Thursday, October 5th, 2023: 8th grade field trip to the Renaissance Faire. Permission slips and cash are due Sept 15th.
Message from the Curriculum Office
This week, all 6th grade parents will be receiving a letter via the Sapphire Community Portal regarding a pilot science unit that all 6th grade science classes will be using for instructional purposes. This pilot unit will provide our teachers and administration with feedback as we continue to plan for the rollout of the new Pennsylvania Department of Education Science Standards, effective for the 2025 - 2026 school year.
Please review the letter with your student and reach out to Scott Oste (ostes@nasdschools.org), NASD Secondary Curriculum Supervisor, with any questions or concerns.
Homework Club
Homework Club starts the week of September 11th, 2023. Do not wait to sign up! Sign your child up for Homework Club where they will receive help with their assignments. Any students interested in joining our group have until September 15th to talk to their guidance counselor. No experience necessary! The winter concert will take place on December 8th and the spring concert on May 21. Both will start at 7:00pm in the High School auditorium.

***Need a PHYSICAL EXAM on file. If they have had a well visit in 5th grade, please send it to the nurse office with an immunization record. If they are scheduled for a well visit, please send in a copy of the visit and a shot record after the appointment.

Completed by the doctor for each school year and brought to school by adult with medication.
OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION
We are able to give students medication from the approved list but we need parental consent each year. The form can be found here. Consent can also be given in Sapphire via the backpack

Procedural Reminders
- *Cellphones, earbuds, and other personal electronic devices are not permitted throughout the school day.
- Doors open at 7:09 a.m., and homeroom begins at 7:24. Students not in the homeroom at 7:24 will be marked tardy.
- All student absences require a parent/doctor’s note within three days of the student’s return to school.
- Remember, you should only be visiting sites assigned by the teacher during specific class periods. Remember, we can see you wherever you go online!

Food Pantry
Are you in need of food items to help you prepare nutritious meals? The NAMS food pantry is available to provide assistance to families in need. Please complete the form below to request nonperishable items to be sent home with your child.
Food pantry items will be sent home with students each Friday in a backpack. Please return the backpack the following Monday to be refilled.

St. Lukes YESS!: St. Lukes YESS! provides individual one on one counseling sessions to those participating. There is a face to face or telemedicine option. This service is billed through insurance.
Cbits (Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools) FREE: This program assists students in addressing trauma that has been experienced. There are individual and group counseling sessions.

The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC program to help families and households struggling to afford internet service. This program replaces the former Emergency Broadband Benefit. This new benefit will connect eligible households by providing up to $30 per month per qualified household for Internet Access.
