WELCOME TO THE HARRIS THEATER

Dear Friends,

It is a pleasure to welcome Andrea Miller and GALLIM to Chicago and to the Harris Theater. Andrea’s work is fearless, rigorous, and deeply human, and we are thrilled to share it with you. I love Andrea’s title for this collection, Bodies of Matter. Her choreography has a remarkable ability to speak directly to the substance of the body and to the brilliance of physical composition. Experiencing her work, I have found myself seated with an almost irresistible impulse to wring my torso or roll my shoulders, as though granting my own body permission to rediscover the magic of its matter. That visceral, embodied response is what has drawn so many artists to Andrea’s work and to the power of her choreographic language. For Andrea’s first visit to the Harris Theater, we selected a curated collection of her work from the past 17 years. This approach offers a broad window into her artistry and invites you to sink your teeth into the range, texture, and emotional charge that define her creative voice. At a time when many presenters across the country are scaling back, the Harris Theater remains deeply committed to bringing bold artists and ambitious work to Chicago audiences, and we understand that the vitality of our own cultural landscape depends on continued curiosity, risk, and artistic exchange. Our ability to continue presenting work that resonates and inspires is only possible with your support. I am deeply grateful that you are part of this journey, and I hope you enjoy tonight’s performance.

With gratitude,

Lori Dimun
