HOWDY WEEK
Howdy Week is a celebration of the beginning of school and getting to know each other. This week we have several Dress Days and we are excited to bring back the popular 'Anything but a Backpack' Friday. Students and staff are encouraged to have fun with these Dress days, but remember that AISD dress code applies. Hat pass wrist bands will be sold Monday, September 11th through Thursday, September 14th before school and at lunch. $5 cash only. Dance tickets will be sold Monday, September 11th through Thursday, September 14th before school, at lunch, at the door. You can buy dance tickets online too! Only enrolled GJH students may attend the dance. If a student has been in disciplinary placement the day of the dance, they are not allowed to attend. All students must be picked up by 8:15 pm.

Mental Health First Aid
Youth Mental Health First Aid USA is a public education program which introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches individuals how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. Mental Health First Aid uses role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to assess a mental health crisis; select interventions and provide initial help; and connect young people to professional, peer, social, and self-help care.
Did you miss picture day? Makeups are on September 11th.
We are gathering interest from our traditional student population about interest in an overnight student trip. This would be a school sponsored trip which is paid for by parents and through fundraising. This would be a travel opportunity offered to all students in 7th or 8th grade. As we investigate these possibilities, we would greatly appreciate your feedback on some preliminary information.
