A Bear Hunt Adventure

Nursery, Summer Term, Week 9

This week, we took our friend Barnaby Bear on a story adventure through We're Going on a Bear Hunt. The children acted out each part of the story using props and their imaginations, pretending they were inside the adventure. Barnaby loved exploring all the different environments along the way!

Preparing for our story adventure.
Moving through the oozy, sticky mud... "Squelch, squerch!"
Through the deep, cold river... Splishy splashy!
Through the swirling, whirling snowstorm... Hooo woo!

Through our play, we have been focusing on pattern making. During group time, the children learnt how to make simple alternating patterns using cubes.

Stacking the cubes.
A super pattern.
Working together.
Trying pattern making with different resources.
A great big tall pattern!
Applying our group learning during play.

Another fun activity this week was making fruit kebabs with our helper, Maryam. The children enjoyed preparing and tasting the fresh fruit. Yum!

Here are a few more photos of the children's learning through play this week.

Painting with bright colours.
Creating detailed paintings while exploring colour mixing.
A colourful owl, inspired by our Read, Play, Connect story session, Wow! Said the Owl.

Sensory play is always popular, and this week's activity was bubble blowing.

Learning, playing and making friends!

This week has shown us how stories can take us anywhere. Through Barnaby Bear's adventures, the children explored different environments, used their imaginations and enjoyed bringing stories to life together. We hope you are able to pop into the hall after school on Tuesday to see your child's 'explorer' artwork on display. We know they will be proud to share it with you!
