Principal Message

Dear Families, As we head into the final two full weeks of the 2025–2026 school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students, staff, and families for another wonderful year of learning, growth, and community. The coming weeks will be filled with celebrations, special events, and opportunities to reflect on all that has been accomplished throughout the year. While we continue to focus on finishing the current school year strong, we are also preparing for an exciting start to the 2026–2027 school year. One important part of that planning process is finalizing staffing assignments to best support student learning and success. We are pleased to share our teaching assignments for the 2026–2027 school year below. These assignments reflect thoughtful consideration of student needs, staff strengths, and our ongoing commitment to providing engaging, high-quality learning experiences for all students. Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to celebrating the remainder of this school year together and welcoming everyone back in the fall for another successful year at St. Paul School. Have a wonderful weekend, Mrs. Carr-Jeschke & Mrs.McNamee

Teaching Staff 2026-2027

Staffing Assignments

Over the past six weeks, we have been working diligently to finalize staffing assignments for the 2026–2027 school year. We are pleased to announce our teaching staff for next year. Several internal assignment changes will take place. Mrs. Doram will be teaching the Grade 4/5 GATE class, Mrs. Silva-Ludtke will be moving to the Grade 5 homeroom, and Mrs. Wolinski will be teaching a Grade 6 cohort during the mornings as part of our Class Size Complexity Grant initiative (see more below). We are also pleased to share that Mrs. Hudon will serve as our full-time Intervention Teacher next year, providing targeted literacy and numeracy support through small-group instruction and classroom-based interventions.

Mrs. McNamee will continue in her role as Instructional Coach, supporting teaching and learning throughout the school. We are excited to welcome two new members to our teaching team. Ms. Abbey Seefried will be joining Grade 2 alongside Ms. Stachniak, and Mrs. Kathryn Filevich-Hogan will be teaching Grade 6 while Mrs. Cimino is on maternity leave. Support staff assignments are still being finalized and will be communicated once all positions have been filled. We are grateful for the dedication and expertise of our staff and look forward to another successful year of learning and growth at St. Paul School.

Staff Departures

Each year brings change, and while it is never easy to say goodbye to valued members of our school community, we celebrate the new opportunities that await them. Ms. Raphaelle Toyad has accepted a position at St. Joseph High School, and Ms. Jann Santiago has accepted a position at Our Lady of Victories School.

We are also pleased to share that Mrs. Veronica Lee has accepted the role of Head Administrative Support at St. Edmund Elementary/Junior High School. Mrs. Lee has been with St. Paul for the last eight years, and has become such an important and integral part of our school community. We are excited for this new opportunity for her, but will greatly miss her daily smile and presence in our school. Each of these individuals has contributed greatly to our school through their dedication, professionalism, and care for our students, families, and staff. Their presence will be deeply missed, but we are grateful for the gifts they have shared with our community and proud to see them continue to grow in their careers. Please join me in thanking Ms. Toyad, Ms. Santiago and Mrs. Lee for all they have done for our school. We wish them every success, happiness, and God's blessings as they begin these exciting new chapters in their professional journeys. They will always remain a cherished part of our school family.

Grade 6 Update & Class Size Reduction Grant

Through Alberta's Class Size Complexity Grant, St. Paul School has been allocated additional teaching support. The purpose of this grant is to directly address class size and complexity by reducing student numbers in classrooms and providing targeted instructional support. After reviewing school needs, Grade 6 was identified as a priority area. As a result, Grade 6 students will be divided into two cohorts during the morning instructional blocks, with each cohort assigned its own teacher. Mornings will focus on Literacy, Numeracy, and other core subject areas. Mrs. Filevich-Hogan and Mrs. Wolinski will each teach a Grade 6 cohort during this time. In the afternoons, Grade 6 GATE students will join the Grade 4/5 GATE classroom. The remaining students from Mrs. Wolinski's morning cohort will join Mrs. Filevich-Hogan's class for afternoon instruction. Mrs. Wolinski will also provide additional support to other grades during the afternoons. This support is intended to further reduce class sizes, provide targeted instruction, and better meet the diverse learning needs of students.

School Council Corner

Please see the following message on behalf of your SAC Executive: Throughout the week our students and community enjoyed an engaging Inuit presentation by Goota Desmarais (Kindergarten–Grade 6), an exciting Sportball Fun Day and BBQ supported by wonderful volunteers. We are delighted to report our casino fundraiser raised $82,343.98—this success could not have happened without the many volunteers, donors, and organizers who supported the events. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped bring these activities to life, with special appreciation to Simon Kursa for his outstanding work on leading our Casino this year.

SAVE THE DATE!

Staff Parking Lot

A reminder that the staff parking lot is not to be used for student pick ups or drop offs. There are staff vehicles, as well as Division vehicles coming in and out of the lot, making it very unsafe for students. Please choose safety or convenience and drop students off in designated drop off areas: 96 Ave in front of the school or 145 Street to the west of the school. Thank you for your support with this!

Enjoy Your Weekend!
