Students in Mrs. Lehmann’s agriculture class recently enjoyed a unique and delicious learning experience with guest speaker Alan Gnau, owner of Whistlin' Dixie Maple Sugarhouse in Smyrna, NY, and Otselic Valley’s own head bus mechanic.

Alan visited the classroom to share his expertise on maple syrup production, giving students an inside look at the process from tree to table. His presentation connected classroom learning to real-world agricultural practices, and many students found personal connections, as their own families are involved in maple syrup making as well.

Adding to the fun was a special guest -- Waffles the dog, who brought plenty of smiles and tail wags to the visit.

A heartfelt thank you to Alan for taking the time to educate and inspire our students with his knowledge and passion for local agriculture.
