Ysgol Tir Morfa - Newsletter

FRIDAY 19th June 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

We enjoyed a fantastic Sports Day today, thankfully the weather was kind to us and we all had lots of fun!   This morning, our Discovery Pathway pupils took part in a range of fun games and activities. It was wonderful to see so many happy faces as they joined in with families and friends. Our Pioneering Pathway pupils also had a brilliant afternoon, they enjoyed the chance to compete for their teams. Da iawn pawb!    A huge well done to all pupils for their effort and positive attitudes, and thank you to Dom from Panathlon who helped make the day such a success!   Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards,

Susan H. Roberts

Our Week at Tir Morfa
Dosbarth Tegid enjoyed a visit to The Coronation Gardens this week. They looked for the fish in the pond, checked out the flowers in the gardens and played on the park. They had a lovely time in the sunshine ☀️
Dosbarth Tryfan cooked a yummy chicken and vegetable curry with rice. Very tricky recipe with lots of instructions but they all did great!!!
Famau have been out and about litter picking for their Duke of Edinburgh Award
Aled Class went to Ruthin this week on their community visit. They were able to order and pay for their own meals and really enjoyed the experience.
Exploring different types of weather with songs and sensory boards as part of our travel week
One of our visitors from Lesotho has been showing us how to make a dish called Papa. Pupils said it looked like a cloud which was apt as it is a dish from the kingdom in the sky.
Dosbarth Lleuad have been enjoying the beautiful weather this week and exploring the outdoors. Some of us enjoyed joining other classes for a session with the play rangers 😎😊
This week Dosbarth Haul have been working hard towards their individual goals during play activities both indoors and outdoors. We also engaged in some mark-making to create puffy paint ice lolly pops!
The beans that we planted have started to grow! The leaves feel very soft and they smell like freshly cut grass. We can't wait to see whose plant grows the tallest, just like the one in Jack and the beanstalk!

Information & Other Events

Attendance Information for Parents and Carers

As part of our continued focus on attendance this year, we have decided to share attendance data regularly with parents and carers through our newsletter. Attendance remains one of our school priorities, and we believe that sharing this information helps keep everyone informed and working together to support our pupils. In Wales, the Welsh Government defines good attendance as 95% or above. Attendance of 90% or below is classed as persistent absence. These benchmarks are used nationally across schools in Wales. We would like to reassure families that we fully recognise that many pupils at YTM have significant health or medical needs which may make it difficult, or sometimes impossible, to meet these targets. As a school, we understand this and want to be very clear that no parent or carer should feel pressured or judged where absences are due to genuine health-related reasons. Our intention in sharing attendance data is simply to ensure transparency and awareness of our overall school attendance and the expectations placed upon us as a school. We value our strong partnership with families and appreciate your continued support in helping pupils attend whenever they are able to do so. If you would like to discuss attendance in relation to your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school - we are always happy to work together to provide the best possible support.
