HGC Juniors Through the Years
Championship Juniors
In the 1990's our juniors not only won the LDUGC junior league but then went on to win champion of champions. Some of these juniors still remain close friends and play at a high level together at Headingley every week.

Junior Coaching
Junior coaching at Headingley will be undertaken by PGA professional Callum Barker who is part of the PMG golf academy at Headingley. Callum is both knowledgeable and approachable and is looking forward to helping you all improve your game whilst having fun.
Further details of coaching dates will be sent out via email as well as updated on this page at a later date.
Junior Competitions
It is our intention later on in the year to start the junior competitions at Headingley so for those of you that don't yet have handicaps I would urge all to start putting your cards in. Very importantly you have to have each of your 3 rounds witnessed by someone who has a valid WHS handicap so if you have a parent then ideally get them to complete your cards with you. I am also going to make myself available to come round with some of you and mark your cards so please feel free to reach out to me and we can make arrangements to get these done.
The Course
Headingley is a fantastic and challenging 18 hole championship golf course and having co hosted the English Amateur in 2021 received praise and compliments for both its layout and condition from players and officials. Being the oldest golf club in Leeds Headingley is a course you can be proud of.
Facilities
The Short Game Area
We are lucky to have a world class short game area and putting green right next to the clubhouse and with the larger newly designed practice area nearing completion later on in 2026 you will have all you need to get full enjoyment out of your membership
The Clubhouse
Headingley's clubhouse is a warm and friendly place to relax, have a drink and chat with your mates after your round or before you head out. As a junior member you get a discounted rate on drinks and food so make sure your card is topped up and ready to go.
Things To Know
Golf has always had a reputation for being a stuffy old mans game but at Headingley we like to think we are more progressive than that so whereas we don't expect you to dress like these fine gentleman above (I mean you can if you wish) we would always recommend golf wear or smart casual wear if you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Headingley Junior Club Swap Program
How Does Club Swap Work
Golf can be an incredibly expensive sport especially for juniors. As you get older and better you will quickly outgrow your clubs so it is my intention to try and hold a small stock of clubs and bags so if you do feel that you need to change your clubs you can have a look through here, give a me a call and try something out if you like it and want to keep it just replace it with what you are currently using and then we can help the next juniors into your old clubs. If we have slightly newer more expensive equipment there may be a small charge but that will then be reinvested into the junior section for coaching towards the junior away day.
