Kia ora e te whānau, and welcome to our Week 6 Newsletter. The weather has certainly changed over the past week and we are definitely entering those autumn days where many layers are essential!
Thanks so much to those who have followed our recent requests about our Pick Up Drop Off and separate parking areas. This really helps keep all of our community safe at the start and end of each day. A reminder in the image below about what each area is for:

Toys
We have had a large number of toys coming into school this term which has unfortunately proven a bit distracting for some students. Please note that if a toy is brought in from home, we cannot guarantee it's safety all through the day. There have been a couple of upset children about friends breaking their toy when they let them borrow it at lunchtime, so please think twice about sending in a favourite toy for them to play with at school.
Swimming Lessons Next Term
In weeks 3 and 4 of next term (Monday 4th May - Friday 15th May) we are having our annual 2 week block of intensive swimming lessons at Northern Arena. Over the past 2 years, our students have thoroughly enjoyed these lessons and made great improvements in their swimming ability over the two weeks of lessons.
Each day, students will arrive at school, do their morning lessons, hop on the bus to go to their swimming lessons, and then return to school for lunch and afternoon lessons. More information about timing for each class will come out at the start of next term.
All students will bring home a form on Friday for you to fill out with your child's swimming ability so we can put them into the appropriate group for their level. Please complete the form and return it to your child's teacher.
Nukumea Art on Exhibition
Our older students have spent today at Corban Estate Arts Centre and the art they create there today is being added to an exhibition for the Kids Art Festival at the end of the month. If you want to see what they have created and enjoy a fun, creative day out then head along on Saturday 28th March. Enjoy local performances and food stalls, Kids Arts Festival 2026: Te Ngahere is where art and nature will connect! Children: 3 - 12 Free Entry.
Community BBQ
Local Real Estate Agent Rika Kirstein - who also lives in the heart of our community - is having a BBQ event here at Nukumea to bring the community together. Those who came along to the event last year had a fantastic time so we hope this second one is just as successful and enjoyable. Please contact Rika on rika.kirstein@bayleys.co.nz to rsvp.
We hope you all have an awesome week!
