A Message From Principal Schachet

Dear Mountain School Parents and Community,

October 2, 2023

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the beautiful transition into fall. As we settle into the rhythm of the new season, I wanted to take a moment to share some important updates and reminders with you.

Embracing the Outdoors: It brings us great joy to witness the laughter and smiles of our students echoing through the halls of our Mountain Schools. We wholeheartedly believe in the educational value of outdoor experiences, and we encourage our students to embrace the changing seasons. As the days grow cooler, we kindly request that you ensure your child is equipped with weather-appropriate clothing and outerwear. Our commitment to outdoor learning and outdoor recess time remains strong, and we want our students to stay comfortable and safe while enjoying the crisp autumn air.

Weather-Related School Closures: With winter on the horizon, we want to remind you about our procedures for weather-related school closures. Decisions regarding closures will be made by 5:30 a.m. on the respective day. In the event of a school closure, parents and staff will be promptly notified through email and phone calls. Additionally, you can find closure information on our school website and Facebook page. Please note that when schools are closed due to inclement weather, all school activities for that day will be canceled.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Our dedicated teachers have begun scheduling parent/teacher conferences, which will continue throughout this month. If you have not yet been contacted to schedule a conference, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's classroom teacher. These conferences provide valuable insights into your child's progress and are an essential part of our commitment to your child's academic success.

Stove Prairie Fall Festival: We're excited to announce that the Stove Prairie Fall Festival is just around the corner on Saturday, October 7th. This event is one of our major fundraisers for the school year and promises to be a day of fun and community bonding. Your participation and support are greatly appreciated as we work together to make this event a success.  Please check out their online silent auction and support them if you can.

Student Count Month: October is designated as student count month, which has a direct impact on our state-level funding. Your child's regular attendance is crucial year-round, but it is especially significant this month. We kindly ask for your cooperation in ensuring that your child is present as much as possible.

Thank you for your continued partnership with Mountain Schools. We are proud of the sense of community that defines our schools and grateful for your ongoing support.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Jen, Lisa, Lea, or me. We are here to assist you.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful fall season ahead.

Sincerely,

Tom Schachet

Parents,

There are just a few items we need you to do:

  1. Log in to ParentVue so you can sign the Parent/Student Code of Conduct. You will be prompted to sign the code of conduct when you log in. ParentVUE is a tool that you will utilize throughout your student's PSD education. You can look at your student’s grades, view report cards, and check attendance. You can also change your contact information, fill out the media opt out form, and transportation forms.
  2. Complete the Free and Reduced Application: Meals are free for all students, however, completing this application will allow our schools certain benefits should you qualify. Even if you feel you do not need additional financial support it helps the Mountain Schools immensely to have each family complete this form as it helps us acquire critical educational funds each year.
  3. Check the menu every day! The link to menu's can be found on Nutrislice. If your student does not like what is being served for the day please send your student with a lunch from home. It is critical that your student eats at lunch so we have a productive afternoon!

Counselors Corner

Ms. Kress is teaching all our students the value of Gratitude this month. We are handing out "Mountain Moolah" and looking for students who model gratitude at school.

Livermore Elementary and Stove Prairie Elementary are proud to be hosting EVIE, the mobile library, once a month for the school and the community. Livermore students and staff will visit from 8:30 - 9:30, and the community can visit from 9:30 - 10:30. Stove Prairie students and staff will visit from 10-11, and the community can visit from 11-noon. Thank you Poudre Public Library for providing us with this amazing book-loving experience!
