Administrator's Message
Dear St. Rose Families, As we move further into our Lenten journey, I am reminded of the beautiful reflection from Pope Leo that invites us into deeper awareness and compassion: “Dear friends, let us ask for the grace of a Lent that leads us to greater attentiveness to God and to the least among us. Let us ask for the strength that comes from the type of fasting that also extends to our use of language, so that hurtful words may diminish and give way to a greater space for the voice of others. Let us strive to make our communities places where the cry of those who suffer finds welcome, and listening opens paths towards liberation, making us ready and eager to contribute to building a civilization of love.” At St. Rose, we continue to model our actions and our relationships on this message of kindness, humility, and care for one another. This past week, our students lived out these values in meaningful ways through our Pink Shirt Day activities. It was inspiring to see our school community come together to stand against bullying, uplift one another, and celebrate acceptance. A special thank you goes to our Solidarity Team, whose thoughtful initiative plastered every student locker with notes of kindness and encouragement. These small gestures created a powerful ripple of positivity and reflected exactly the kind of “civilization of love” Pope Leo calls us to build. Also, thank you to our incredible School Council, who surprised our staff with a beautiful Valentine's treat. Your thoughtfulness and generosity were much appreciated and uplifted our staff. We are blessed to have such a supportive and kind parent community at St. Rose! As we continue through Lent, may we remain attentive—listening with open hearts, speaking with gentleness, and acting with generosity. Together, we can ensure St. Rose remains a community where every person is seen, valued, and supported. Wishing you continued blessings and peace this season. Through our prayers, sacrifices, and acts of service, may we truly live out the Gospel and prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter. Erin Winch, Principal Kyle Pisani, Assistant Principal
Lenten Prayer
Almighty and ever living God,
Almighty and Everlasting God,
You have given the human race
Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man
And giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You
By following His example of suffering
And make us worthy to share in His Resurrection.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son.
Amen

Solidarity Team March Update
This March, our Solidarity Team is focusing on Gender and Women’s Rights, with special attention to the right to equal access to education and meaningful work. These rights remind us that every person deserves opportunity, fairness, and the freedom to pursue their goals. In honor of International Women’s Day (March 8), we are launching our “Celebrate Her” Campaign. Students will be invited to create shout-outs recognizing women who inspire them — whether that’s a family member, teacher, coach, friend, or public figure. These messages will celebrate the strength, leadership, resilience, and everyday impact of women in our community and beyond. By taking time to acknowledge and uplift the women who shape our lives, we reinforce the importance of equality, respect, and belonging. Together, we continue building a school culture where every voice is valued and every person has the opportunity to thrive.
A letter is attached to this email with more details regarding The Taste of St. Rose event and the cookbook which is organized by our Student Leadership Team.
Father Michael Mireau Day - March 18
On March 18, our grade eight students will have the privilege of gathering with several other Edmonton Catholic Schools to participate in Father Michael Mireau Day. We remember the legacy of Father Michael “Catfish” Mireau who used pop culture references to stir the hearts of the young and old. For Father Mike, God is Love was a theme that governed who he was and how he lived his life. As a Division, we want to honor that devotion and share that message with our young people. Indeed, Father Mike was a passionate minister, his heart was always with children and youth, and time and time again, he affirmed a message to them of loving God and others. He tried to show faith to which others could understand and relate. This is what it means to serve like a superhero. This is what it means to love God and love others. And this is what we will share with our grade eight students when we gather together at St. Charles Church in March of 2026. Grade eight students will worship and celebrate Mass alongside our Division Chaplains for the first hour. Jesse Manibusan, a beloved singer, songwriter, catechist, storyteller, humorist, and evangelizer who is well recognized throughout North America as a dynamic speaker and musician, will share the love of Christ, the call to live out our baptism in every aspect of our lives, and what it means to serve like a superhero, for the second hour. There is no cost for students and field trip forms will be sent home this week.
