Lake Elsinore City Council
A Message from Mayor Johnson
As we start to bid farewell to the warmth of summer and welcome the colorful embrace of fall, I am thrilled to share some exciting updates with you.
We are gearing up for an array of fall special events that we are sure you and your family will enjoy. Tomorrow, September 1, 2023, at 5:00 PM we invite you to attend the Classic Car Show and Tacofest held on Historic Downtown Main Street. Come out and join us for a showcase of classic cars, live entertainment, dining, shopping, and more!
While we are preparing for these wonderful special events, we’re also launching new lake initiatives designed to enhance water quality and preserve the natural beauty of our lake.
In the next few months, the City will begin implementing a comprehensive lake management plan. This lake management plan is not one big project but rather several strategies that will guide the City for the next 20 years. We are thrilled about the upcoming lake initiatives and will be updating residents on progress as the lake management plan is implemented and unfolds.
Sincerely,
Natasha Johnson, Mayor

The Dream Extreme Future Leaders Program is an eight-week program for Junior and Senior LEUSD high school students that provides an avenue for the youth in Lake Elsinore to engage in City Government by instilling the importance of civic values and developing civic skills. The program cultivates 21st-century skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities, as well as assisting the students in obtaining practical, hands-on work experience. The City is fully committed to investing in its future workforce and providing opportunities to expand knowledge and gain experience in public service careers for high school students.
The Program includes classroom-setting training two days per week and culminates in a mock City Council meeting during which the students present or consider their peers' presentations. Students who complete the program are then recognized by the City Council at a Council meeting and become eligible to apply for summer internships and earn additional experience to apply towards their Carl Graves Scholarship application.
This year’s program is limited to 18 students and will run from October 16 to December 12, 2023. The application period for this year's program will be open from September 5, 2023 to September 29, 2023.
City of Lake Elsinore Lake Watch
Based on recent lab results from lake water sampling and guidance from the California State Water Board, the City of Lake Elsinore is announcing that current levels of toxins from algae warrant the posting of a “Caution” advisory. Under this advisory, and per the CA State Water Resources Control Board, people may engage in all forms of recreation, including swimming, boating, and fishing. People are advised to stay away from any remaining visible algae, to not drink lake water, and to continue to keep pets out of the water. Have fun and be safe on the lake!
Water Quality Management
Watch to learn more about the City's road map to a renewed and restored Lake Elsinore. We are thrilled to launch a new Lake Management Plan that will guide the City for the next 20 years.
