Kia ora koutou, this term is absolutely flying by and we now only have one week left to go. It has been wonderful to have Edgar and Dzhamil joining us recently and we have also had more visitors as we prepare for new students to join the community next term.
As well as having new students, our school now has a new Board! This newsletter will introduce you to the people who have joined our Board and then share a big event happening next week to end the term.

I’m a local mum of 3 and love being involved in the community.

Hi, I'm Michael and am excited to be part of the first Board for Nukumea School. I have an older boy who loves walking our local group to and from Nukumea Primary, a son at the school currently and a daughter who will be there in future. I work at Auckland University and have a real interest in building acoustics.
Hello, I'm Kathryn, a mother to twin girls in year 4 at Nukumea School. Originally from the UK, I am a Royal Navy veteran, former critical care nurse, and nurse lecturer. I currently work part-time as a nurse specialist in research. We love being a part of the Pacific Heights and Nukumea community, and I am deeply committed to supporting our children in realising their full potential and pursuing their dreams.
Recently, our parents and whānau community gathered together to discuss Nukumea’s digital citizenship programme. We explored some of the key messages and learning outcomes that students can expect at Nukumea. We also discussed some practical strategies that parents can use at home when it comes to device management, screen time, and staying safe online.
If you were unable to attend, you can find the following resources and links below:
- Slides of the overview of the digital citizenship programme
- Netsafe resources
- Switch on Safety - Match the filtering you have at home with what students get at school
If you have any specific questions or concerns about any of the topics or themes discussed, or you have others you’d like to share, please contact Andrew Cowie andrewc@nukumea.school.nz or Lisa Everett lisae@nukumea.school.nz
We hope to see many of you at the workshop next week. In the meantime, have a great weekend!
