Members of the Otselic Valley FFA and Agriculture Program recently traveled to Buffalo to attend the 101st New York FFA State Convention, joining approximately 3,000 FFA members from across the state for several days of learning, leadership, competition, and networking.
Throughout the convention, students participated in leadership workshops, attended general sessions, connected with other FFA members, and took part in a variety of activities designed to help them grow as leaders and agricultural advocates. Students also participated in a day of service, helping pack meal kits for area food banks.
The trip included several notable accomplishments. Lilly Palmer and Miranda Hackett, along with two students from South Jefferson, won the ice cream creation competition. Makenzy Clemens was one of just 50 students selected to receive an official FFA jacket, and Kimmy Blanco became OV's first Spanish Creed speaker, representing the chapter with confidence and enthusiasm.
In addition to convention activities, students explored western New York through visits to Niagara Falls, Muranda Cheese Company, Montezuma Wildlife Refuge, and other destinations. Along the way, they built friendships, created memories, and gained experiences that extended far beyond the classroom.
By the time they returned home, students had plenty of stories to share and a better understanding of the opportunities available through FFA. FFA members represented their school and community with pride!
Thank you to our OV FFA students for representing Otselic Valley so well at the 101st NY FFA State Convention, and to advisor Mrs. Lehmann, Danielle Graham, and all of the staff and supporters who helped make this memorable experience possible.
