The Blast City Manager Dennis' Weekly Update | September 3, 2025

Thank you to the nearly 30 individuals, groups, and organizations who took the time to submit comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIR) for the proposed Baylands Specific Plan. The public review period just closed yesterday, September 2nd, after commencing on April 3rd. All comments received during that period are now available here on the City's website. The City is now in the process of evaluating comments received on environmental issues and will prepare a Final EIR, which will respond to those comments. We'll share here in the Blast when the Final EIR has been published.

September is National Preparedness Month

You may have noticed that the agenda for this Thursday includes a Proclamation for National Preparedness Month. With recent alerts being disseminated via SMC Alert, it's clear that disasters don't wait! And we shouldn't either to get prepared.

The 2025 theme for FEMA's Ready campaign is Preparedness Starts at Home. See below for four key actions you can take to prepare for any disaster you may face:

  1. Know your risk
  2. Make a family emergency plan (and check out Ready Kids for even more info)
  3. Build an emergency supply kit
  4. Get involved in your community by taking action to prepare for emergencies (Colma is offering free CERT classes and opening registration beyond just residents! To sign up, please contact Colma Recreation Services at 650-985-5678 or recreation@colma.ca.gov. Deadline to reserve your spot is Friday, September 15, 2025)
