Well done to the year 6's who have worked their socks off this week and shown amazing determination to show off their learning and do their best! In those moments between tests, it has been lovely to pop into the other classes and see all the exciting lessons and hard work going on. Red Kites amazed me with their progress in writing and as I shared in the last newsletter, their phonics is superb! Falcons have shown fantastic focus and have really got stuck into their Egypt learning. They told me lots of facts about the Nile. Year 3, 4 and 5 have produced some beautiful art, including clay work and I must say that their singing is lovely. The sounds coming out of sports club tonight were those of pure excitement! I can see that the calendar is filling fast with more sporting opportunities; Champions of Champions Netball, a tennis festival at the Grantham Tennis Club, a cricket festival at the Cricket Club, athletics at the Meres and hand ball at another DRET school- just to name a few for next term!
Academic Attainment
You can see how achievement compares to other local schools here. Just search the school then click the heading 'Primary'. We have performed above national average consistently for the past 3 years. Last year (as well as the three year average), combined Reading, Writing and Maths attainment was the highest in the area.
Outdoor Learning- our next steps
I had an exciting meeting with Natalie Terris, our new outdoor Learning Lead for the Trust. We plan to develop the groups to support outdoor learning on site so KS1 can have weekly sessions and KS2 can enjoy termly sessions in the on-site provision. We have committed to taking EYFS to Y2 each year to the site 'Hazelwood Hollow' for a term's block of forest school with Natalie. This will start with Red Kites next term. We also plan to deliver a full day each year of Beach School by a trained practitioner to each year group. This is where we plan to be by the autumn term:
