NASCO Institute 2023 Sponsorship Guide

NASCO Cooperative Education & Training Institute is widely recognized as one of the most important training and networking opportunities available to cooperative members, directors, staff, and managers. Every year, hundreds of participants from all over the United States, Canada, and beyond converge to share ideas, learn new skills, and take an in-depth look at issues affecting the cooperative movement worldwide. This year we are excited to return to holding NASCO Institute in-person for the first time in four years!

Affirming Institutions: Co-ops for Social Change

In the words of celebrated changemaker Ruth Wilson Gilmore, “Abolition is about presence, not absence. It's about building life-affirming institutions.”

At NASCO Institute 2023, we’ll explore the role of co-ops in this map of life-affirming institutions that light our way to a world beyond punishment and exploitation.

This year we will offer course tracks focused on Creating a Co-op, Cooperative Fundamentals, Staff and Managers, Cooperation Among Cooperatives, and Cooperative Leadership.

Our final course track, focused on our theme of Affirming Institutions: Co-ops for Social Change explores the role of co-ops in abolition, such as reducing engagement with the carceral system, building safety for people who are particularly vulnerable in the carceral system, serving as community organizing hubs, and responding to harm in our co-ops in visionary ways.
