Welcome to the the 2025-2026 Broughal Music Blast! Broughal Music was pretty busy this past week! Jazz Band and Orchestra performed for Donegan's Spring Concert, and Band, Majorettes, and Honor Guard paid tribute to the fallen in the annual Fountain Hill Memorial Day Service. Just a couple more weeks left until we wrap up this school year. Let's make sure we finish this school year strong. Go Rockets! Please note that the Broughal Music Blast will be sent out every weekend, detailing the rehearsal schedule, upcoming events, and important announcements.
Uniform Collection
All Band Uniforms should have be returned on Friday, 5/22, after the Fountain Hill Memorial Day Service. Please make sure you return the following items so that they can be dry cleaned and prepared for next school year:
- Jacket
- Pants/Shorts
- Garment Bag
- Leadership Cord
- Shoes/Boots
- Berets

BMPO Meeting & Incoming 6th Grade Meeting - Thursday, 5/28, 7 PM
On Thursday, 5/28, Broughal Music will be hosting an Incoming 6th Grade Music Meeting, at 7 PM, via Google Meet. This is a great opportunity for students and families who are interested in joining and have questions about Broughal Music. In this meeting, we'll discuss:

Return School Instruments by Friday, 5/29
The last day of instrumental music lessons will be on Friday, 5/29. 8th grade students and students who are not playing an instrument next year MUST return their school instruments and equipment by the end of the day on Friday, 5/29. Students who do not return their instruments and equipment will be charged for the replacement of missing instruments and equipment. 2026 Summer Music Camp!
Mark your calendars for the 2026 Broughal Summer Music Camp, August 3-14, 2026. We’re thrilled to welcome new and old students to this two-week period. Students will work on music for the upcoming school year and create a strong community of learning. We HIGHLY recommend that EVERYONE who plays an instrument participates in Summer Music Camp. It also is a great opportunity to get involved with the Music Department - even if you have no experience! Registration for Summer Music Camp will be sent via email over the Summer. Congratulations to the select Broughal students for proudly representing Broughal Middle School in All City Band this year! Students learned 13 pieces of music over 2 days of rehearsals and performed in an outstanding concert. Congratulations to ALL BASD middle school students!

PMEA Elementary Band & Orchestra
Congratulations to Isaac G. and Alice S. for proudly representing Broughal Middle School and Bethlehem Area School District in the PMEA District 10 Elementary Band & Orchestra Fest on Wednesday, 3/11. They rehearsed for an entire day with other 5th and 6th grade students from around the Lehigh Valley. At the end of the day they performed an outstanding concert at Nazareth Area High School. Congratulations!
PMEA Intermediate Band & Orchestra
Congratulations to Isaac R. for proudly representing Broughal Middle School and Bethlehem Area School District in the PMEA District 10 Intermediate Band & Orchestra Fest on Friday, 1/30. He rehearsed for an entire day with other 7th and 8th grade students from around the Lehigh Valley. At the end of the day they performed an outstanding concert at Easton Area Middle School. Liberty HS Summer Band & New Member Info for Band & Orchestra
If you are in 8th grade, are going to Liberty HS next year, and want to join band, then mark your calendars for Summer Band! Summer Band occurs during August and is the first time the Liberty HS Grenadier Band (LHSGB) meets to prepare for football season and parades. All rehearsals are MANDATORY! Mandatory Music Meeting - Presentation
Our first music meeting for the 2025-2026 school year was on Thursday, September 4th, at 7:30 PM, in Broughal's Auditorium! During this meeting, we discussed important information for Broughal Music this year, including fundraisers, performances, trips, and rules & expectations. For more specific details, please view the presentation, complete any required tasks, and contact the directors with any questions.
Instrumental Music Lessons
Lessons began on Tuesday, September 2. All instrumental music students should have received their first lesson assignments during the first week of school, in homeroom. Please note that all lessons take place during the students' Related Arts periods. Early-Morning Rehearsals
Early-morning rehearsals began on Wednesday, September 3. Students should report to the main entrance on Morton Street as early as 6:55 AM but no later than 7:05 AM, on their assigned rehearsal day, based on the following rehearsal schedule:
- MONDAYS: Jazz Band
- TUESDAYS: NO EARLY-MORNING
- WEDNESDAYS: Band, Majorettes, Honor Guard
- THURSDAYS: NO EARLY-MORNING
- FRIDAYS: Band, Majorettes, Honor Guard

Handbook Forms Due - Wednesday, 10/1
Like past years, we will be using Google Forms to collect your responses for your Handbook Forms. CLICK HERE to access and complete your forms. If you need paper copies of the Handbook Forms, please contact one of the Directors. All electronic and paper Handbook Forms are due by Wednesday, 10/1. Don't forget to fill out the paper BASD Medical Form (English | Español) in addition to the electronic forms!
$50 Fair Share Due Thursday, 9/25
The $50 Fair Share was due on Thursday, 9/25. We use this money to purchase music, supplies, clothing, food, and beverages. We also use these funds to pay for transportation, field trips, and various items and events throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please contact the directors as soon as possible.

Want to know how much money is in your child's account and how much money you owe for Fair Share and the Spring Trip? Check out the Broughal Music website or the following button/link. The document is organized by Student ID number, so make sure you have the ID number ready. If you cannot find your child's ID number, please contact Mr. Stoltz (astoltz@basdschools.org).
Do you know when your next lesson is? Have you been practicing your instrument? Check the Lesson Schedule regularly so that you are prepared for your next lesson. Remember, you need to attend 17 lessons per instrument in order to attend the Spring Trip!
Broughal Theatre Announcement!
Congratulations to the cast and crew of Newsies, Jr. on a phenomenal rehearsal and performance season! While we'll miss this year's theatre experiences, we also are excited to announce next year's production - Descendants: The Musical! We can't wait to welcome next year's cast and crew, and we hope you'll join us for one of our performances over the 2027 Presidents Day weekend.
