Ongoing City Projects
Rediscover Downtown
The City of Lake Elsinore's vibrant downtown is undergoing an exciting transformation. Rediscover Downtown is a series of seven current and future projects designed to enhance the downtown corridor. These improvements aim to improve the City's infrastructure, aesthetics, and public spaces, fostering a stronger sense of community and boosting local businesses while preserving downtown's historic charm and character.
With these investments in our future, we're building a more connected, accessible, and beautiful downtown that residents and visitors will enjoy for years to come.
Climate Action & Adaptation Plan
In response to climate change, the City of Lake Elsinore is developing a Climate Action and Adaptation Plan. This initiative aims to reduce emissions that contribute to climate change and protect residents and property from climate impacts.
Lake Elsinore's Climate Action & Adaptation Plan is supported by the Adaptation Planning Grant Program at the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR). The Adaptation Planning Grant Program is an initiative of OPR’s Integrated Climate Adaptation and Resiliency Program (ICARP). ICARP advances climate adaptation and resilience in California by coordinating investments, partnerships, and climate science to ensure people, natural systems, and the built environment are protected, prepared, and thrive in the face of climate change.
Key Benefits:
- Cleaner air and improved public health
- More comfortable homes
- Increased access to green job opportunities
- Enhanced climate resilience
- Streamlined environmental reviews for new developments
Stay tuned as we share more on this exciting project!

Lake Watch
Based on recent lab results from lake water sampling, the City of Lake Elsinore is announcing that current levels of toxins from algae warrant the posting of a “Caution” advisory. People are advised to avoid scum, to not drink lake water, and to continue to keep pets out of the water.
The City will continue to test the water on a weekly or bi-weekly basis at this time and will post regular updates on the lake conditions as lab results are received.
Community News
Help keep our community clean by maintaining a healthy sewer system. Keep fats, oils, and grease (FOG) out of your pipes.
- Collect small amounts of fats, oils, and grease in a container, such as a coffee can or milk jug, and place it into the proper bin.
- Scrape leftover food, sauces, lard, dressings, and cooking oils into a proper container instead of rinsing them down the sink.
- Use a sink strainer to collect stray solids and prevent them from entering your pipes.
Maintaining a healthy sewer system is up to all of us.
Now that Halloween has come to an end, please be sure to dispose of pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns properly!
Gas Assistance Fund
The Gas Assistance Fund (GAF) offers a one-time grant to help customers pay their gas bill.
If you're having difficulty paying your natural gas bill, the SoCal Gas Assistance Fund (GAF) may be able to provide you, or someone you know, with a one-time grant for the amount of the gas bill, not to exceed $100.00. If the eligible applicant is 55+ or has an older adult (55+) living in the household, an additional $100 is available for a maximum grant of up to $200.
How to Qualify
To qualify for GAF, you must meet the following requirements:
- The natural gas bill must be in the name of the applicant requesting assistance.
- The bill address must be the applicant’s primary residence.
- The applicant must not apply for more than the maximum GAF allowance for the current program year.
- The applicant must meet the income guidelines listed on the Program website.
