Beginners Corner – Updates on Beginners

Beginners are learning more and more every day. Each class is learning to play more notes and learning new techniques on their instruments. You should be hearing them practice daily if possible. Hopefully the sounds you are hearing are starting to get better. 😊 Practice records are due each Tuesday with a parent signature.

Rogers Band Fall Concert – October 18th

All are invited to our first concert of the school year on Wednesday, October 18th in the Rogers Competition Gym. The Fall Concert will feature music performed by the Rogers Symphonic Winds, Concert Band I and Concert Band II. There will be no beginning band students performing at this concert, however we welcome all students to come and listen. See you there!!!!

Rogers Band Award from The Foundation for Music Education

The Rogers Varsity Band (Symphonic Winds) submitted last year's concert band competition performances to the National Wind Band Competition, sponsored by The Foundation for Music Education. This competition seeks to recognize and award outstanding achievement in performance by high school and middle school bands, choirs, and orchestras. The project gathers hundreds of entries from throughout the United States and provides valuable feedback for all entrants, which allows ensembles to compare and compete against other outstanding groups from across the country. Results for this competition were officially released yesterday.

We are proud to announce that the 2022-2023 Rogers Symphonic Winds was awarded The Mark of Excellence - National Wind Band Commended Winner ranking in the top percentile out of 442 Varsity bands from 40 states across the country. The Mark of Excellence Project ensembles are judged by nationally acclaimed adjudicators to recognize and award outstanding achievement in performance by Varsity bands from a pool of competing ensembles throughout the nation.

This is the second time in consecutive years in Rogers Middle School history that any band has been recognized as a winner in this prestigious competition with The Foundation for Music Education.

Thank you to all of the students, Rogers administrators/teachers/staff, parents, and Prosper ISD administration for providing the opportunity to our students to perform music at such a high level.

Please help us congratulate all of our students for their outstanding achievements!
