Every day is a great day at Adams!
The MPS District Vision: Lead with respect, trust and courage. Ensure an equitable collaborative and inclusive culture. Enable all to achieve success.
At Adams Elementary we follow the vision and the work the district is doing with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by introducing a vocabulary word to students each month. The word is introduced, and defined, at the morning meeting at least once each week of the month. We also include PYP Learner Profile Attributes. The word(s) for September was is inclusion, and the PYP attribute is risk-taker. Inclusion-all are welcome, respected, supported, and valued. Be sure and ask your student about the words shared at morning meeting.
Morning Student Line-Up
Students who line up in the back of the building in the morning must stand by the back of the building or go to the front of the building. Students should not be on the playground in the morning.
Farm to School
Second-grade students recently had the opportunity to learn about organic farming. They were able to taste the fresh and delicious peppers, which was a great way to learn about where food comes from and how it's grown. The students had a wonderful time and were delighted to try something new. Chartwells will feature peppers over the coming weeks during lunch.
Collaborative Art Project
Each school year, each student gets to participate in a school-wide art collaboration project. This year, Mrs. DuLude read You Grow, Girl (and Boy) and talked about how each student may want to grow this year. While some wanted to grow in a specific sport or school subject, others said they would like to grow as a friend or as a risktaker.
It was great to hear all the goals that our Adams students have. To remind them of their goals, each student made a piece of art that grew into one of these beautiful flower arrangements displayed outside the office.
Community Programs
The holidays are headed our way, and we want to be sure that our families are aware of the community programs available to those needing assistance. At this time, the following programs are available to Adams students/families:
**The Sharing Tree program, sponsored by the United Way and the Salvation Army, is available again this year. Those in need fill out a form requesting a Christmas gift, along with clothing sizes. Tags are placed on trees around Midland and shoppers purchase the items, which will then be available for pickup from the school. We have the gift request forms in the office. Stop by and pick them up, or call us if you would like the forms sent home. Completed forms are due to us by October 4, 2023.
**Community Christmas Closet, sponsored by the King's Daughters of Midland, provides clothing vouchers for students. If you are interested in completing this form for your student, please stop by the office or let us know and we will send one home. Completed forms are due to us by October 15, 2023.
The Midland County Emergency Food Pantry Backpack Buddies Program is available again this school year. Contact the office at 923-6037 if you would like to receive the food backpack.

Reporting Absences Through ParentVUE
Parents/Guardians can report student(s) absent via ParentVUE. This feature appears as a blue button titled "Report Absences" on the app's main page or website.
- Parents/guardians can report absences for a single day or multiple days.
- Report each student individually. Do not enter additional students in the notes section.
- For each absence reported, parents/guardians must provide a detailed note explaining the reason. If you report your student as sick, please list the symptoms your student is experiencing. The note will help school attendance staff select the correct attendance code.
- If you have a legal or medical document, please upload it with the absence, or provide it to the school attendance staff upon your student's return. Parents/guardians can still call to report an absence at 989-923-6037.
