April-May We are now in Bogotá

Dear friends and family,

We want to tell you that during the months of April and May Eimy finished her 7th semester classes at the Missionary Institute.

She completed classes such as Cross-Cultural Fundamental Bible Teaching (FBT), in which she learned how to prepare lessons for chronological Bible teachings taking into account the culture of another ethnic group (the Yurok people, in her case).

Jordan finished teaching the FBT class to those in the first semester of the Bible stage.

Carlos, Esteban and Nicolas, the three first semester students.

Jordan gave his last Sunday class with the teenagers.

We thank God that more kids from the neighborhood are going on Sundays as well. They are showing more interest in understanding. Please pray for this group.

Why do we talk about “last”?

we went to Bogotá

As you saw in the beginning, we came to Bogotá. And the reason is that, as seniors, we have the last 5 weeks of the semester to spend with our sending church as a time of Internship to the church.

Since Jordan doesn't have a visa and we can't go to our church “Iglesia Bautista Hispana de Winchester” in the United States, we traveled to Bogota to be with Eimy's church.

And we went by bike!

We really enjoy cycling, and decided to take the bikes to Bogotá so we could go out from time to time.

And what better way is there to take them than by riding them?
In the background of the photo -very blurry- you can see Bogotá.

It turns out that Eimy's pastor likes cycling a lot too, so this encouraged us even more to bring them.

The first thing the pastor asked us to do was a “discipleship on wheels” with him :)

We rode about 40 km together. It was a good time to spend with our pastor after months of not being able to visit the church.

We had breakfast together and talked about how we could serve this month in the church.

We have only been here a week, it has been a blessing to be back. We are already helping the church with what we can, and with what we have been asked to do.

Please pray with us that we can be a blessing and help during this month.
prayer requests
  • For our church in Fusa and the ministries we left -for this month. That the guys may be encouraged as they continue to serve.
  • For the Lord's provision for our stay during this month here in Bogota.
  • For direction for future ministry as we complete our missionary training.

Future ministry: a proposal

As we approach the completion of Eimy's training, we ask the Lord to guide us where to serve.

After learning of places where missionaries are needed here in Colombia, we have been praying for a specific ethnic group: The Tucanos.

(If you are interested in learning more about the Tucano people and why we are interested in working there, click on the button below).

We mentioned to our teachers the interest we have for this ethnic group, and that we would like to be able to visit the missionary family working there.

There is a possibility that we could be sent for two months to this place during the Tribal Internship next semester.

Please join us in praying for this. We want God to lead us.

THANK YOU FOR PRAYING WITH US!

We appreciate you very much. In Christ,

Jordan and Eimy Jaspe
