The Elsinore Edition AUGUST 2023

Lake Elsinore City Council

A Message from Mayor Johnson

As we enter August, I encourage you to take advantage of the remaining summer days and make lasting memories with your loved ones. Our City is home to a plethora of outdoor activities, parks, and recreational spaces that offer opportunities for fun and relaxation. Let’s cherish these moments and create unforgettable experiences with our families.

As the summer months begin to wind down, I wanted to take a moment to address an important event that is fast approaching – our children returning to school.

Mark your calendars, the first day of school for the academic year 2023 – 2024 in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District is Wednesday, August 9, 2023. On behalf of the City of Lake Elsinore, I extend my warmest wishes to all the students, parents, teachers, and school staff to have a great start to the new school year.

Lastly, I want to express my deepest gratitude to our teachers, administrators, and support staff who have been working diligently throughout the summer to ensure a seamless transition for our students. Your unwavering dedication to our children’s education is truly commendable, and I applaud your tireless efforts.

Sincerely,

City of Lake Elsinore Lake Watch

Based on recent lab results from lake water sampling and guidance from the California State Water Board, the City of Lake Elsinore is announcing that current levels of toxins from algae warrant the posting of a “Caution” advisory. Under this advisory, and per the CA State Water Resources Control Board, people may engage in all forms of recreation, including swimming, boating, and fishing. People are advised to stay away from any remaining visible algae, to not drink lake water, and to continue to keep pets out of the water. Have fun and be safe on the lake!

Party in the Park Recap

Our annual Party in the Park event was held this year from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Summerly Park. It was amazing to see families come together to decorate bikes, wagons, and scooters for the kids bike parade. Families enjoyed free amusements and competed in fun organized games such as tug of war, limbo, potato sack races, and trivia. The Oscar Tortola Group was there and passed out over 375 free snow cones before running out of cups!

Lake Elsinore Dream Extreme 2040

Adopted in July 2020, the Dream Extreme 2040 Plan is the City’s First long-term strategic plan to assist the city in its pursuit of achieving its vision. The plan serves as a living document that will be updated regularly to provide a framework to guide all decision making over the next 20 years by identifying key Anchors, Aspirations, and Strategies.

Our Vision

The City of Lake Elsinore will be the ultimate destination where all can live, work, and play, build futures and fulfill dreams.

The plan contains three primary components:

Anchors are the unique community assets and opportunities of lake Elsinore.
Aspirations encapsulates what we hope to achieve in Lake Elsinore's Future.
Strategies comprise potential actions that the City can implement in order to achieve the aspirations. All strategies relate back to one or more anchors.

Our Anchors

Anchors are assets that make the City unique—they are what make Lake Elsinore special and what will drive the future of our community. While a wide range of possibilities can be imagined for Lake Elsinore’s future, structuring the vision plan around these three anchors helps to guide the City’s decision making and efforts focus on the assets that matter most to the Lake Elsinore community.

Our Aspirations

Aspirations are broad, long-term goals grounded in the three anchors above. Aspirations are cross-cutting, meaning they address multiple anchors and serve as organizing principles for what Lake Elsinore will be in 2040.
