Principal's Message

Lake Pleasant Families,

I hope everyone is having a relaxing Labor Day weekend! This week we were excited to begin our video announcements that are written, edited and directed by a few of our dedicated junior high students. On Friday’s, I share with students an inspirational quote, discussion of one of our SOAR expectations or items I see around campus that need improvement or are going well. I leave them with “Friday Funnies” which is a big hit where I share a joke and laugh hysterically at it.

This week I shared the quote, "Some people dream of success, others wake up and work for it". As your principal, I find it essential to emphasize the value of hard work, especially in the context of our students' education. While dreams and aspirations are undeniably important, it is the diligent effort, persistence, and dedication to one's goals that truly pave the path to success. This statement illustrates that a commitment to work hard, having a relentless pursuit of knowledge, and a willingness to overcome obstacles will lead to success in carrying out any dream. We strive for our Lake Pleasant community to foster an atmosphere of support where each individual feels empowered to pursue their unique aspirations and embark on their individual paths to success. This quote serves as a reminder that, while dreams are significant, the dedication to realizing them through hard work is equally crucial.

Have a great week Silverhawks!

DONATIONS REQUESTED FOR OUR "SOAR" STORE

At LPE we do our best to identify and reward students for their positive behaviors by giving them "SOAR" cards. S.O.A.R. is an acronym for "Safe, Organized, Aware, Responsible". When students are caught by staff "SOAR"ing they are given a card that they can redeem at the SOAR store.

This week we will begin selling items to students based on grade level so be on the lookout for your child's turn at the store!

We are continuing the work to get the store stocked and would love for those in our community who are able and willing to donate items towards this store. Please take a look at the items on the Amazon Wish list or we could use food items such as chips, cookies, Gatorade etc.

The store is organized and run by some of our Junior High students along with some teacher sponsors. We are able to provide many real life learning opportunities through this program. Thanks in for supporting this program!

What to expect from School Social Workers

Elementary school is where children develop their competence and confidence as learners, as well as their attitude towards school, self, and peers.

Elementary school social workers play a crucial role in helping to develop skills related to academic, emotional and mental wellbeing that serve as a foundation for career and personal success.

In order to support and build a strong relationship with students through their elementary school years, social workers:

  • Meet individually with students (with parental consent)
  • Work in groups with students to develop specific skills or strategies. (with parental consent)
  • Conduct structured lessons in classrooms with our Lake Pleasant SOAR expectations.
  • Consult and collaborate with students, families, staff, and community resources to promote student adjustment and academic success.
Here you will find pictures of kids learning or being recognized along with staff recognitions as well!

PLEASE WELCOME OFFICER WROBLEWSKI OUR SCHOOL LIASON OFFICER!

We are excited to partner with the Peoria Police Department as they have dedicated a few officers to provide assistance to all elementary schools that reside within the City of Peoria. You may have seen Officer Wroblewski's Police Cruiser in front of campus these past few weeks. He will be be randomly checking in with all of his schools including Lake Pleasant frequently. We are so excited to have this resource available to us as we continue to prioritize having a safe and welcoming school environment!

NEW ARRIVAL/DROP-OFF BAYS HAVE BEEN PAINTED!

We hope these new drop off and pick up bays will assist us in improving our arrival and dismissal procedures. Please pull up to the furthest open bay to allow as many students as we can to load at the same time. Students will be standing on the number on the sidewalk to allow easy entry to your vehicle. This procedure is for both student loading areas.

PARKING DURING THE SCHOOL DAY

When visiting our campus during the school day, please park in the main parking lot and utilize the crosswalk to get to the office. The drop off areas seen above need to remain clear as we need to keep this area clear for a fire lane while school is in session.
