THE HOYER ERA BEGINS NOW UNCW VOLLEYBALL

On Dec. 18, UNCW Director of Athletics Michael Oblinger announced the hiring of Lorelle Hoyer as Head Coach of the volleyball program. Story

"I got the opportunity to play under Pete and Lo for two years and during that time they taught me so much. They taught me a lot about volleyball, but they also taught me so many life skills. I couldn't have asked for better coaches to help me grow in the sport I love. I know they will continue to share their passion of the game and influence so many other lives in a positive way!" -Stacey Hone (Two-time Big Sky All-Conference Team)

"During my time as a college athlete, my school went through three different coaches, and I was fortunate enough to finish out my last two years with Coach Lo and Pete. The second you meet Coach Lo you feel at home; safe and free to make mistakes, to learn and grow. That’s the environment that she creates in the gym. Every day you show up to practice remembering that you GET to do this. You’re never scared or uncomfortable to ask questions, because she encourages it. She will be your biggest hype woman and supporter but will also keep it real with you and guide you to your highest potential. She helped mold me into the best athlete and person that I could possibly be, and for that I am forever grateful." - Caroline Walsh (Two-time PSAC All-Conference Team, AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention, NCAA DII Atlantic Region All-Tournament Team)

“UNCW volleyball is a program that historically builds champions, leaders, teammates and family. It can help build you into athletes who little kids look up to and teach you traits that as alumni you will use for the rest of your lives. I am excited to see Lo and Pete push the legacy of UNCW Volleyball while continuing to drive the importance of building you as amazing athletes and people. The UNCW Volleyball program truly is limitless, and I am excited to see the future with this team and these amazing coaches.” - Katie McCullough, UNCW volleyball Alum
