Welcome to Mulberry

welcome back! We celebrated Montessori Week by learning about Dr. Maria Montessori. She was born in Italy and became a doctor, which was very rare for women during her time. Dr. Montessori chose to work with children who were poor and believed by others to be unable to learn. She proved this idea wrong when the children in her first school, the Casa dei Bambini (Children’s House), showed great success. Much of what we do in our classroom today is based on her philosophy. Dr. Montessori also believed that During the week, we also had several discussions about peace. The children learned that peace can have different meanings for each person. We did some arts about peace and learned a beautiful song in sign language called “Light a Candle for Peace.” May the children continue to spread kindness, light, and peace wherever they go. ✨

Science: children enjoyed learning about fish this week. We talked about where fish live and learned that they live in oceans, rivers, lakes, and ponds. The children discovered that fish breathe through gills and use their fins and tails to swim in the water. We also looked at different kinds of fish and noticed that they come in many colors, shapes, and sizes. we learned about the life cycle of a fish as well. Fish begin their life as tiny eggs in the water. The eggs hatch into baby fish called fry, which grow bigger and eventually become adult fish. The adult fish then lay eggs, and the life cycle begins again. It was a fun way to learn more about animals that live underwater. 🐟

This week we also talked about Ramadan, a special and meaningful time for many families around the world. Ramadan is a holy month when Muslims focus on kindness, gratitude, prayer, and helping others. Many people fast from sunrise to sunset and spend time with their families. At the end of Ramadan, families celebrate a joyful holiday called Eid, where they share food, give gifts, and spend time together. The children enjoyed learning about different traditions and how people celebrate in different parts of the world. It was a wonderful opportunity to talk about respect, kindness, and understanding different cultures. 🌙✨
